    Default Testing LAN connection

i subscribe for an internet connection but the tech told us that they cant install the internet because there was a limited or no connection status on my LAN. but when i tried to check the LAN properties its states that its working fine. Is there any way that we can the LAN port w/o connecting to the network? like DOS commands to see if the LAN is working fine. is this possible?

i posted this topic on the other thread. they say that i should post this one here.

limited or no connectivity status usualy shows when you are not assigned an IP address by your DHCP server. or could be a faulty LAN card.

type ping in the DOS command prompt. like "ping 192.168.0.1" to check your connectivity with your router.

192.168.0.1 is your router or default gateway.

maybe the tech guy dont know what his doing...

You can actually use Ping 127.0.0.1 in DOS prompt.

"A computer on the network is identified by what is known as an IP address, which consists of four numbers separated by dots, such as 127.0.0.1. However, there is one address that cannot be used by any computer in the world, and that address is 127.0.0.1. The reason is that this address has been reserved as what is known as the loopback address. A loopback address is an address that tells the computer not to test its connections to another computer, but to test its own basic network setup"

if you received a reply it means your LAN Card is capable of communication.
    similar to the picture below.

They only thing that can verify that your LAN card is not working
when you received an Intermittent reply at the same time received a Network Unreachable...

They only issue why the LAN Card a Limited or no connectivity is the proper IP Assignment. just my two cents
Try to type ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew that if you are using a DHCP.
for further troubleshooting call the ISP for your concern they should know how to configure it.
That's there product in the first place

hmmm.. not sure but never encountered issues like that.
are you really sure it sounds after you hit the ENTER key? (Ping 127.0.0.1 -> ENTER)

or maybe it was just a STUCKED key on your keyboard.
