Hopes high for ‘shoeless’ tracksters
The Filipino tracksters are shoeless, barely a week before the formal opening of the 24th Southeast Asian Games in Thailand.
Go Teng Kok, the controversial president of the RP track and field association, is blaming the Philippine Sports Commission.
"We are the most unpopular team with the PSC," said Go Wednesday, citing the late arrival of their basic needs.

PBL CARES
NAKHON Ratchisima, Thailand—The Philippine Basketball League (PBL) is doing its own share to help basketball prosper in Cambodia.
PBL commissioner Chino Trinidad bared the league is donating basketballs, shirts and playing shoes to the Cambodian team seeing action here in the 24th Southeast Asian Games.
Trinidad, also acting as team manager of the Philippine men’s cage team, said he learned about the sad plight of the Cambodian players when he met their manager during their meeting last Dec. 5.
“Nagsisimula pa lang kasi ang basketball doon. Pumunta sila dito to compete because they love the sport. Kaya kami may mga sobra naman kaming gamit, ido-donate na namin ito para sa kanila,” said the vibrant PBL commissioner.
According to Trinidad, the Cambodians’ resources for the biennial meet were so meager that some of them played wearing badminton shoes during their opening game against the Philippines.
“Nakakaawa rin dahil mamaya ma-injured pa yung mga yun. But because for our common love with basketball, tutulungan natin sila on our own little way,” he
added.
