Makaluya di man. it gives you nostalgia. more than RETURN OF THE KING does.

but i thought that the characters motivations in ACT were dubious, and the middle part "felt" like filler-uppers to me.

the good thing about it was that everything was in the right place, in the end.

    sofia didn't deserve the Oscar.

pero gwapo man ang salida. mas gwapo pa ang LOST kung i compare nimo sa SPY CAM, diba r/brey?

so himuon nalang nato ang SPY CAM. basin maka-daug diay sad ko, diba? laina's A.M.P.A.S, doh!

so LOST IN TRANSLATION? i'll give it a very fair rating:

4/10 akong ihatag uy! unfair sad nang 1/10

    mwahahahahaahahahahahahah

yeah, it wasn't a typo, that was 4/10. Four. Quatro.

    :P

there are other "pretentious" movies that i dig better than LOST... (ONE HOUR PHOTO by Mark Romanek) pls don't have to let my justify why i liked O.H.P.

The movie is an acquired taste. I can see why some people would like it ... but I didn't think it was that great. I don't think Bill Murray deserved an Oscar nomination.

bill's acting was suited for himself. his personal life pretty much gave hints of his character in the movie. they said the character was tailor made for him. id still give the oscar to bill murray than to sean penn anytime. his character in mystic river was overwrote and anyone could be a grieving father. its overdone. bill's character was more real and natural.

it aint the greatest movie ever but i enjoyed it specially the 2nd time around. definitely one of the best in 2003, so, the oscar nominations and the awards. hahaahha.

btw, i always wanted to live in a big city all my life. tokyo was always on top of my list along with seoul... must go there :8O: must go there :8O:

The acting is pure cold-method, which is what's so good about it. The direction is fair enough....

Oh, by the way, I DID make a connection, r/brey!

yes, I DID............. but I also made a connection to movies like FREAKY FRIDAY...... and to THE MONEY PIT which was a Tom Hanks bomb if I'm not mistaken.....

but I don't praise them. (hey, Money Pit is a bomb!)

I didn't make a connection at all to Peter Weir's WITNESS. but I think it is one of the best movies EVER.

    So connections don't matter

ive never really related/connected to the characters directly. since im not 50 yrs old, and of course im not a girl. secondly ive never been to a far away strange city.

curious ko pao, how did you connect to the characters? hahahah

what i meant was empathizing with the characters. there are lots of elements that make LiT unique. and most of those you only get when you really see how sad and strange the way the both of them are feeling while in tokyo and the way their relationship is. they just sort of cover up what they are feeling with jokes and dry humor. that would make things easier.

i remember charlotte said near the end "so dont go, stay here with me, we'll start a jazz band"

sad and funny at the same time.

maybe i didn't connect to the characters. i connected to the tagline --

    Everybody wants to be found

I've only seen this once. And I'm still confused as to whether I should like it or hate it. I've felt the same confusion when THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS came out, and you know what? i still haven't made up my mind about that Nov. 5 movie....

And I've never seen LOST IN TRANSLATION quite yet because you've never REALLY seen a movie unless you've seen it thrice.

haven't seen the extras but people say that sofia is boring, humorless and almost has nothing to say. that DOESN'T matter to me, someome told me when people come up with something good, they usually end up keeping quiet......
what i would have wanted is a commentary of sofia to go with the film.
