For the obvious reasons for heatsink ang CPU/GPU lapping, Im wondering where can i buy a 2,000+ grit sandpaper. the highest i can find is 1,200 grit.

murag wala man sad gyud ko kakita ug 2000grit nga sandpaper bai... nagpalit pud ko... 400, 600, 800, ug 1200...
EarlZ, you DO NOT NEED 2000 grit!
The processor does not need to be shiny! You need to make the surface FLAT, of booth surfaces, the processor and the cooler.
Even 800 grit is enough.
After lapping, you use little thermal paste (size of a rice corn), and spread it with a credit card or something similar. This fills the gaps. Thats it.
Thanks for the info,Originally Posted by softtouch_ph
So anyone know where i can find 2,000 grits ( 2,400 to be specific )
only a blacksmith knows it...
maybe a machine shop can help![]()
i agree...been lapping for some time now & even noticed when i reached 1500 grit, i would go back to 800 to get it more polished.Originally Posted by softtouch_ph
Flatness is very different from polishingOriginally Posted by emoners
so why need a 2000 grit if the aim is just to get it flat?
LMAO, Isnt the whole idea if lapping the CPU/GPU and heatsink base to get a close to perfect flat surface even for a mere 3-4c drop in temps ?Originally Posted by emoners
I would advise that you read more on the difference between flatness and polishing when it comes to lapping. ( no offense ment )
