I've always wanted to try to delid a CPU so I gave it a go. Bought a Rockit 88 Delid + Relid Kit just to be sure. Was tempted to try it with a razer blade but lisud na if masipyat.




I. Placing the CPU on the Delid Kit

V. Clean Cut after cleaning it using my fingernail and cpu cooler warranty card (credit card-like)


VI. Tabunan ug tape ang kilid for safety


VII. Hmmm Liquid Metal


VIII. Ang excess sa die ky ako gi pahid sa IHS


IX. Reseal gamit ug Silicone Adhesive (Nakalimot kog take ug pic sa application)


X. Curing Time! (24 hours ang curing time sa adhesive pero I did it overnight lang then gi gamit na pag morning ky wa na kahuwat )

Planning to upgrade my CPU cooler in the near future to test if my procie can hit 4.9-5 GHz but so far I'm happy with my results. The temperatures would have been 1-2c cooler if Gelid GC Extreme gihapon ako gigamit nga paste after delid. Ang problem lang sa Gelid ky after 5 months murag crumbs na siya. But anyways, there you have it. i7 6700k delid operation success!

noob question TS and to overclockers diri...

is it okay to remove the IHS permanently and directly use a cooler to the die?
this is the same with PCH (PCH pa ako nabal-an, what's new na ba?) and laptop procies as dies are directly in contact with coolers.

Actually someone did it in youtube. Iya pa gi ibot ang ang processor lid sa motherboad kay with it, dli mka make contact ang cooler ug ang die. And he had to rig something up pra sa mounts, which is more hassle.

Not sure about PCH. But I think ma short (dli ka abot) ang cooler if direct die.

yea, that's one limitation for coolers if they are designed to press into the IHS and not to the die. thnx

Boss, aside sa temps nga advantage niko, any speed gains like extra 500mhz sa imong current OC?!

Nakabasa ko about delid, temps ra ang advantage plus 100mhz. Ambot lang dili ba kaha hasol sigeg reapply ug thermal paste with the risk of damaging sa processor sigeg tang2x taod for maintenance?

@i.draw.fast, Ang i7 6700k ky 4.0 GHz stock then 4.2 GHz turbo speed. Right now ako OC ky 4.7 GHz @ 1.34v stable. Before delid ky 4.6 GHz rako kutob ky init na keu if patas.an pa.

From what Ive researched, mas better ang liquid metal if die to IHS compared sa mga normal thermal paste in terms of temps, longevity and para pud to avoid pump out issues. Nai vid sa youtube gpakita CLU after 1 year, so far okay raman: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tQx1LYDKsk

@coerce, Hehe. Nice. Unsa nga processor imu gi delid? Unsay speed sa imu OC and volts? Liquid metal pud imu gamit?

Sa ako screenshots, running Realbench @4.6 GHz ky 73c Max temp (Before Delid). After delid Max temp ky 60c nalang. Dili ko ka state pila jud nakuhaan temp before and after ky wala koi thermometer para check sa ambient temps but ang importante 60c tops nlng cya sa realbench. But maybe give or take 10c difference?

Right now ky Im running it at 4.7 GHz tas 73c iya max temp sa Aida64 stress test (12 hours). If real world use, Rainbow Six Siege(Game) + Firefox w/10 tabs + Skype + Discord + Steam + Malwarebytes ky 66c Max. Not bad.

Dili kaabot ug 5ghz boss Hahahaha.... Maayo unta makaabot. So i guess sakto ra pud sa gipost nila nga 100mhz ang gain plus temps nga mu-ubos. Kulbaan ko ug delid pero murag risky ra para nako mugain ug 100mhz. I salute to you boss! Isog gyud kaayo ka mu-mod.
