Few months back I had the same issue with my imation external. It also had the same ticking sound inig connect nako sa laptop both as internal drive and via another USB enclosure. A friend of mine told me to put it in a small dry bag or water proof bag and place it on the freezer for 6hours. Immediately after removal of the drive while cold, connect it to the computer preferably via USB. For some reason I was able to recover some of my files only for a few hours. Before it failed again.

Somehow I don't know the real concept behind this but it did work for me. Just try it. It may work for you too

salamat sa tip sis, pero dili ba kaha mosamot ang damage ani kay after you take it out sa freezer surely it will produce some condensate sa internal parts, but ill surely try it anyway guba naman sad jud cguro ni uy, sayang lang mga file

I've tried this before and it work splendidly. By freezing the hard drive, you're hopefully shrinking the platters enough that they're no longer rubbing up against the head. Temporarily ra pud. Just make sure it's at least 12 hours sa freezer not the chiller. Once ice cold, quickly connect it internally or externally(via USB), ayaw huwat na dili na kaayo bugnaw. E recover first ang important things and when mo heat up na siya and mo fail na ug balik. Try freezing it again and hope mo work pa. If nag work pa siya after the 2nd freeze, then recover the rest.

Mao na need nimo e wrap ug ziplock bag unya completely seal jud para walay condensation. And by completely seal, I mean, air lock seal jud.

Condensation only happens when humid air is introduced.
