Default Macbook Pro 15" mid 2015 at 4K@60hz using 40" 4K TV problems and availability

    Hi everyone,

I'm planning to buy 40" 4K TV that will be used as a monitor replacement for my work. I won't do gaming on this set-up. I currently have Macbook Pro Retina 15" mid 2015. For work I have Parallels (virtual machine for Windows 10). I read some articles and youtube videos regarding this set-up. Here are my problems:

    • Where to buy a cheap 4K TV (40"-43") that can support HDMI 2.0?
    • Where to buy mini-displayport (thunderbolt 2?) to HDMI 2.0 cable?
    • Can I achieve 4K@60hz with this set-up?
    • What are the downside of this set-up? Like laptop heat issue, lags, etc...

    Thanks!

tsk.tsk. mac with parallels to work in windows environment..

cheap 4k 40" is korean brand or new Devant
thunderbolt2 to hdmi cable at octagon

4k resolution depends if you mac is natively 4k < is your retina 4k? or QHD | UHD? >

    downside.
    lags.

    solution: build a desktop that's 4K capable

start with Gigabyte mobo that's Hackintosh compatible
    i3 at least
    8GB
    SSD for OS
1TB at least for ur videos
    Gtx960 | 1060 | RX470 | RX480

    small form factor cases

the Macbook Retina? it's great for on the go works and presentation

I only need 4K TV 40”-43”. Do you know where I can check those Korean 4K TVs?

Thunderbolt2, yes. Is the HDMI (2.0?) conversion can drive 4K@60hz? I might go to Octagon and just buy the cable to test out this set-up

I saw videos on Youtube, they tried using lower models of MBPr and it works…

That’s the problem I’m trying to figure out. If only there’s an existing set-up where I can test

Nope… I won’t go that route… Hackintosh is a bit flaky for my work.
