option 2: (if your brave enough and want to experience RMA stuff!!!)
-verify if harddisk is indeed valid for RMA here: Warranty Status | WD Support
-be "VERY" sure that you are using western digitals 'application' AND that it will tell you it should be returned...
-secure a box big enough for your hard drive (plus 1" of the drive dimensions) and wrap it with bubble wrap.

-really forgot the next steps as it was many years ago...

-WD will ask you to print out many documents (shipment address, etc.)..., you should paste some of these documents to the box with your hdd.
-go to your shipment of choice (LBC, JRS, FedEX, etc.) and ship your boxed hdd.
