Philippine Airlines responds to Karlie Kloss' complaint

MANILA, Philippines – After top model Karlie Kloss slammed Philippine Airlines (PAL) on social media, the airline issued a statement Wednesday, June 8, and said that Karlie missed her flight because she came late to the check-in counter at JFK International Airport.

In a statement sent to media, PAL said that check-in counters close an hour before the estimated time of departure: "Flight departure was at 12:15 am, June 7, and counters closed at 11:15 pm, June 6; Ms. Kloss arrived at 11:40 pm."

After Karlie slammed the airline on social media, saying that they had the "worst customer service of all time," PAL apologized to her on Twitter. Karlie replied, tweeting that she would send them a private message.

In the press statement, PAL said that they're now communicating with Karlie to help her refund her ticket and rebook her flight to Vancouver:

"We are happy to note that Ms Kloss has gracefully responded to PAL's initial communication. The airline has likewise sent her a formal letter stating that there was no deliberate intention to cause her any disservice. To show the heart of the Filipino, we are extending her assistance to facilitate the refund of her unused ticket or to facilitate the rebooking of her flight."

News about Karlie's experience with PAL made headlines after the model documented it on Snapchat. Karlie went straight to the airport from the Council of Fashion Designers of America awards where she was a presenter.

In one of the videos she recorded, she said, "I travel international on a weekly basis. I have never had a worse customer experience than I have tonight. Thanks Philippine Air."

Even if it's her fault she missed her flight, PAL to refund supermodel Karlie Kloss ticket | Coconuts Manila

Dear PAL, how about the rest of us non-supermodels? Will we also get a ticket refund if we miss our flight 25 minutes after the check-in counter has closed? Or will we need to have over a million followers on Twitter first?
    Just asking.
    Update!!!
We asked, we got an answer.
Philippine Airlines has clarified that all passengers have the option to refund or rebook their plane ticket if they've missed their flight (within a specified grace period and if the ticket has no restrictions) once they pay a no-show fee and a rebooking fee.
So there you go, the "special treatment" that Kloss got is available to you and me, too.

Here's an excerpt from PAL's Conditions of Contract.

Mo refund man ang PAL.

Per still worst Airline ever...

Kung international flight na (NY - Vancouver), dapat 2 hours before the flight sya mo check-in.

Ang PAL always or most of the time late, pero dili kaayo strict sa Check-In ug Boarding Time.

If wala ko nagdali or dili ako ang mag gasto sa flight (kay mahal)... I'd prefer PAL than Cebu Pac.

Boss, tanan dire (PAL, Cebu Pac & Air Asia) naa jud na ma delay ang flight. Kasuway ko anang 3 ma delay ang flight.

Pero it is normal ma hasul ta anang ma delay ang flight or bisan ma cancel atong flight.

Kini man gud si model 30 minutes before departure time unya international flight pajud (New York to Vancouver, Canada), aw ang sad-an si model.

Karlie Kloss SHOULD try Cebu Pac next time

Between lesser evils, and depending on situation / case2case basis... I'd choose PAL.
