In Japan, 29,442 people committed suicide in 2012 — 20,888 men and 8,554 women — which translates into an age-adjusted rate of 18.5 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, about 60 percent higher than the global average of 11.4.

The rate compares with 12.1 in the United States, 7.8 in China and a surprisingly high 28.9 in South Korea.

Perhaps difficulties in coping up with the highly stressful urban living.
I bet most of them came from rural areas where stresses are not more intense.

I suppose what usually leads to suicide are psychological conditions like severe depression. Psychology, unfortunately, is not a very well appreciated science in Cebu. That's why even our "trusted" authority called the media would easily jump to conclusions about a medieval idea called demonic possessions. Clinical depression requires treatment. It's not a feeling that you can think your way through. You can't just make yourself happy and get out of that state. And no amount of priestly sermons can pull you out of what they call "dark cloud".

high cost of living dinhi sa cebu. Labi na these few years. Our government is doing nothing about it. Sila pa ganeh nag pa samot sa situation. Mga buwis nag ka grabe. Requirements sa pagtrabho or anything, ambot lang imbiss isimplify. Na samok na hinuon kaayo.
