Scott Weiland, Former Stone Temple Pilots Singer, Dead at 48
Scott Weiland, the former frontman for rock bands Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, has died, his Facebook page confirmed early Friday morning (Dec. 4).
"Scott Weiland, best known as the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts," a post on Weiland's Facebook page reads. "At this time we ask that the privacy of Scott’s family be respected."

I saw Scott Weiland with STP ages ago and one of my favorite concerts of all time.

One, if not the only artist I've felt the loss deeply so far. STP is one of the bands that inspired me to play bass and get in a band. Eventually drifted to noticing Scott's songwriting talents and have ever since looked up to him. I will not say his death was a shock, I saw it coming like all the people around him did, a troubled soul he was. But like everyone who loved him, we all hoped he would pull out from the darkness. Sadly, it consumed him in the end.
I can honestly say that a little part of me died and yet a little part of him will live in my heart as I play...
