why do filipinos love basketball ??

.. is it because it's the only sport that's available for our televiewing when cable-tv was still scarce, i'm talking about the 70's up to the 80's. Is it because of the americans influence when we we're still in their rule ?? anybody can enlighten me on this ??

all you need is slippers (and if it gets real serious, they'll take off there slippers n play barefooted)
you also need a ball,.... but its not really necessary coz when you go to the basketball court theres always some1 playing

so all you gotta do is take yourself and slippers to the basketball court and your set to go,....

interesting question..I know americans loved baseball better than basketball...but it could be because it was a sport that we we're once so good at that we dominated the Asian scene and we were even considered contenders in the world stage...that was a looong time ago, best finish was a 3rd place and bronze medal in a world championship p;ayed in Brazil during the 1950's

Basketball is already well rooted in the Philippines and it has been passed on from generation after generation. It could be the action that it brings through the help of the media or maybe simply because many Filipinos understand basketball more than any other sport. Basketball is the most common sport in the Philippines, it's just like soccer in Brazil.
