Rose Pharmacy started in 1952 as a small family-type drugstore in Martires Street owned and operated by the spouses Benjamin and Rosario Lim. In 1954, the couple later relocated to P.del Rosario near the University of San Carlos. Within the next decade, other branches within Cebu City, notably along the streets of Colon, Magallanes, Progreso, Osmena Boulevard, Juan Luna, Junquera, Jakosalem and Legaspi were also opened.
Rose Pharmacy, Inc. was incorporated on December 13, 1974. During the years following its incorporation, the company undertook strategic expansion in terms of more branches and in the creation of subsidiary companies-- Berovan Marketing, Inc., New Trading Enterprises Inc., Roz Laboratory, Salon de Rose, Inc. and BRG Realty Corporation.
Its first branch outside Cebu was established in Davao City in 1976. Since then, Rose Pharmacy expanded its branch network covering key cities in Visayas, Mindanao, Metro Manila, Calabarzon area and up to Bicol region. At present, Rose Pharmacy, Inc. has a national network of 200 branches, contributing its fair share in the growth of our economy through job generation and retail sales. In the whole of Cebu alone, the company has more than 60 branches.
In November of 2014, Rose Pharmacy, Inc. did a joint venture with Dairy Farm, in their joint objective to broaden consumer offering with the latter's wider health and beauty portfolio. Dairy Farm, which reported total sales of $12B in 2013 and nearly 6,000 outlets as of June last year is behind the brands Mannings and Guardian as well as Wellcome, Jason's Marketplace, Cold Storage and Giant supermarkets, among others, across Asia.
In the Philippines, Dairy Farm owns 66% of Rustan's Supercenters, Inc. which operates the Rustan's Supermaket, Shopwise and Wellcome.
This joint venture brings a whole lot of promise to the already successful Rose Pharmacy, Inc. in the service of its consumers.
