Who here owns one of the Pentium Dual Core E21X0 series procs?

I'm looking to build my current rig to an HTPC (ti-ti lang og non-demanding games pud). One of the desirables of an HTPC is a quiet setup. I figure maayo ang e21x0 processors kay barato pero paspas, nya gamay og clock speeds->dili init->di saba ang fan. Nya parisan ni nako og fanless video card para labi kagamay ang saba.

Maayo ba ang performance at its price? Does it run cool nga di siya saba paminawon? Because my current proc (P4 631 HT) is ROARING!!! Everest records the fan speed at near 4000 rpm, above 4000 rpm on a hot day, and just above 3000 rpm with air-conditioning.

naa ko E2140 na CPU, its a good CPU and w/ the right mobo and good rams. you will be able to OC upto 100%

nah, i don't plan to overclock, it'll just be hotter/louder, and i don't like that. besides, my motherboard is not capable of OC (ASUS P5PE-VM). I believe HTPC don't have very demanding specs (video card is important of course for good output), they just need good peripherals (i.e. optical drives, card readers, tv tuner, etc. which i am not ready to spend yet) and a good look (read: CASING). For now, iporma una nako ang meaty parts of the computer, unya na ang mga bulak-bulak.

2x512mb Hynix ddr400 (dual channel)
Palit 6600GT

As you can see, it is not really a powerful/quiet setup. I plan to put a fanless 7600gs or a newer AGP card later (Nvidia plans to make AGP versions of 8000 series and g92/g9, but I think my first priority is killing the buzz noise of my processor fan.

@vlad: Pila ka-rpm/temps on idle na ang e2140? load?

@teH_tHirD bios readings: 32-37C

coretemp and intel TAT shows 40-50C, idle to load. full load rise upto 57C --- w/ stock cooling.
