    Default Mitral Valve Prolapse

Hello! Sa mga istoryans na may Mitral Valve Prolapse or MVP, tapok ta dri... share your experiences

    Thank you!

    What is MVP?
The difference between MVP and NVP Syndrome

    MVP Symptoms:
majpr and minor symptoms of MVPS

I am 31 years old, and was diagnosed in 2011 if I am not mistaken. My Cardio is Dr. Fermin. I complained of shortness of breath and palpitations in the middle of my sleep

I am currently under maintenance (Therabloc 25mg). Despite the meds, I occasionally still get symptoms such as cold feet/hands, excessive sweating, palpitations, anxiety etc...

I usually do some breathing exercise to relax and to overcome my symptoms...

What about you? Share it guys.

I have MVP was diagnosed last 2004

Was initially on propranolol wasn't happy about it kay mag orthostatic hypotension ko..decided to go off the meds..

never took anything for it since I stopped in 2004

2d Echo once a year just for the heck of it.

So far since my diagnosis this is what I've done

    I ran 3 ultramarathons (50km distance)
    Several short runs between 10km-25km

    I also gave birth.

There are times when I get to experience the palpitations, shortness of breath and nausea..and probably all other symptoms you are currently experiencing...

I do not really pay alot of attention to it...my latest 2d Echo says 'ze mitral valve is fine...so I am fine.

I've been diagnosed with MVP, pero mild ra daw. Wala ko paimni ug tambal. I was told that I can do normal stuff gihapon, except lift weights or heavy loads, or activity nga mangusog kog maayo. I think hereditary ni kay murag may MVP man to ako lolo. Swimmer baya to.

Tigdagan man ko btw, and it's ok man, no problemo. But a doctor friend told me maybe dili advisable nako ang super long runs kay murag mo start nag kick in ang MVP. Ok ra sad kay di man ko hilig ug distances beyond 10K hahaha. Nakadagan kog 50K once tho (for the record/heck of it), and ok man ko afterwards. Ang pamaol sa legs mao may ako reklamo haha.

I don't do inversions (handstands/shoulder stands) sa yoga tho, my choice. Kay hadlok ko basig mo "leak" nya ako MVP hehe.

Because of my MVP, my ECG results will never be normal Di man ko tig pa 2D echo yearly. So far I really had no probs with it. I didn't even notice the symptoms, altho when I was in HS/college, maka feel kog palpitations, which my dad brush off as some condition nga passing ra daw. My cardio told me later nga possibly muscle twitches ra daw, which can be usually felt by people nga di tig exercise hahaha. Di man ko tig "exercise" atong panahona na diagnose ko, unlike now.

was diagnosed 3 years ago... MVP with mild regurgitation.. so far nag stay ra sa mild regurgitation.. and yup, the anxiety and panic attacks.. for the first year of the diagnosis, kapila ko balik2x sa hospital.. in fact nag pa admit jud ko.. took propanolol sad.. life was such a mess.. on my second year, i decided that enough is enough and i want my normal life back..

so far so good na ko ron.. i read ebooks regarding anxiety and panic attacks and now i am better at handling them.. i still get the symptoms at times pero wala na nko gi mind..

people say MVP is a heart disease or certain heart condition.. my doctor (Dr. Cantoy) told me, MVP is just a "cosmetic difference" of the heart.. it's "normal" but if you have regurgitation (like me), it needs to be tracked but most prognosis if mild lang kay it would take a lifetime to advance..

    start with positive thinking..

1st, take her to a cardiologist.. if wala gani siyay regurgitation, wala ra jud na siyay angay kabalak-an.. if naa gani, bantayanan na siya kay it can get worse over the course of a lifetime mostly.. so if mild regurgitation lang, she has nothing to worry gihapon pero dapat monitored iyang condition once every few years by a cardio.. ginamonitor man ko ni Dr. Robert Cantoy.. having the assurance of the cardio really helps a lot.. kay if mo atake gani ang mga symptoms, you can use that assurance nga hey, "I am alright, I'll just let this symptoms pass"..

as for me, my regurgitation is still mild.. i am fine.. as for my anxiety, i believe i am "healed"... do i still get the symptoms.. most of the time, i don't even know or maybe dili na ko bothered.. sometimes though especially if I am very stressed, i can notice some of the symptoms that I used to fear sa bag-o pa lang ko.. but i don't mind them at all now.. i consider myself healed..
