Background of Haus32:

Our nation being in the Ring of Fire has been used to natural calamities. But times are changing, what seems natural are now monstrous in magnitude and its strength to destroy. 2013 has been the most horrific year for the Philippines. As the world watches us devoured by the Twin Tragedy of Visayas.

The 7.2 magnitude Bohol earthquake in October 15, 2013 that rocks as far as Masbate in Luzon and Cotabato in Mindanao, has left
222 dead, 8 missing and 976 injured people. In all, more than 73,000 structures were damaged, of which more than 14,500 were totally destroyed. It was the deadliest earthquake in the Philippines in 23 years. The energy released by the quake was equivalent to 32 Hiroshima bombs.

On November 7, just 3 weeks after the quake, Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) struck the Visayan region again. It was the strongest tropical cyclone recorded in human history. It left a wasteland of unthinkable scale, killing 6,300 people, 8,000 injured and 890,895 homeless families living in destitute.

And the most horrific news of all is that experts have predicted that these catastrophes of high scale will be the "new normal" as climate change has now taken its full impact.

Haus 32 is an initiative to help protect families during calamities which have now been very frequent and more threatening as ever.

On 2010, we started using a new building technology. The frequent cracking of hollow blocks prompted us to look for stronger alternative. Then we came along a Filipino invention called Absolute Wall. As a homebuilder for middle to high income families, we have been constantly innovating for the discriminating tastes of our clients.

The challenge now is how to bring an expensive technology to the lower income, who are the most vulnerable to these catastrophic times. And so Haus32 was born.
