Default Am I Contributing to terrorism?

If You Buy Halal, You Are Indirectly Financing Terrorism Via Zakat

It is unlikely that anyone else will inform you about this…

Islamic law requires a 2.5% tax called zakat which is imposed on income and accumulated wealth of all devout Muslims.
ie. the muslims that are involved in the halal industry- the imams, slaughtermen, workers, business & shop owners etc.

Halal certification is done on a fee for service basis, with the fees varying with the scope and scale of the services.
Certification is provided by Islamic organizations, and would not be halal if the required zakat was not paid on the fees.

What you may not know is that there are eight classes of zakat recipients, each of which gets a 1/8 share of the gross.
One of those classifications is fighters in Allah’s cause aka Mudihideen, aka terrorists.
When you purchase a product which is certified Halal, you are indirectly contributing to terrorism.

I quote from Reliance of the Traveller, the Shari’ah handbook of the majority Sunni sect of Islam.

h8.7: The Eight Categories of Recipients

It is obligatory to distribute one’s zakat among eight categories of recipients (O: meaning that zakat goes to none besides them), one-eighth of the zakat to each category. (n: In the Hanafi school, it is valid for the giver to distribute his zakat to all of the categories, some of them, or to confine himself to just one of them (al-Lubab fi sharh al-Kitab(y8, 1.155). )

    h8.17: Those Fighting for Allah
The seventh category is those fighting for Allah, meaning people engaged in Islamic military operations for whom no salary has been allotted in the army roster, but who are volunteers for jihad without remuneration.
They are given enough to suffice them for the operation, even if affluent; of weapons, mounts, clothing, and expenses for the duration of the journey, round trip, and the time they spend there, even if prolonged.
Though nothing has been mentioned here of the expense involved in supporting such people’s families during this period, it seems clear that they should also be given it.

Over a billion people in the world follow the teaching of the Prophet Muhammad. His followers accept the validity of the prophethood of Muhammad and sincerely believe that his teachings are a divine message from Allah (God).

They believe that the message is embodied in the Holy Qur’an, and this Qur’an is the living word of Allah for ALL of humanity.

As-Sadaqât (here it means Zakât) are only for the Fuqarâ’ (poor), and Al-Masâkin (the poor) and those employed to collect (the funds); and for to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined (towards Islâm); and to free the captives; and for those in debt; and for Allâh’s Cause (i.e. for Mujâhidűn – those fighting in the holy wars), and for the wayfarer (a traveller who is cut off from everything); a duty imposed by Allâh. And Allâh is All-Knower, All-Wise. Al-Tawba 9:60

    Surat At-Tawbah - The Noble Qur'an -

One of the five pillars of Islam is the requirement that every Muslims contribute to the Islamic charity (alms) tax or Zakat.

According to the Qur’an, the Zakat funds must be used for the following purposes.

The Fuqara poor. They are the poor who do not beg for support.
The Masakin. The destitute; They are the poor who beg for support.
Amil’ Zakah. Those who administer the collection and distribution of the Zakat funds.
Mu’Allaf. Those who may be enticed to Islam as well as new converts who need financial support.
Riqab. Those in bondage; Those Muslim slaves who may have their freedom purchased.
Fi sabi `Lillah. Those who are fighting in the Cause of Allah, e.g., the Mujahideen.
Ibn as’Sabil. The wayfarer; Muslim travelers who need assistance while on a journey.
Gharimun – ‘people burdened with debt’
One of the purposes of the Zakat tax is to support those struggles in the Cause of Allah (6.). The Noble Qur’an states that Allah’s Cause entails supporting Mujahideen or those who are fighting in the battles and wars of Allah. So, it is no wonder that Islamic charitable organizations send funds to militant organizations who fight in the Cause of Allah. From the perspective of many non-Muslims, some of these militant organizations are terrorist organizations.

The hadith of al-Bukhari in its section on Zakat informs us that Khalid did not have to pay the Zakat because he kept his armor dedicated to the Cause of Allah. Armor is used for battle and not for charitable purposes as normally understood by non-Muslims.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle (p.b.u.h) ordered (a person) to collect Zakat, and that person returned and told him that Ibn Jamil, Khalid bin Al-Walid, and Abbas bin ‘Abdul Muttalib had refused to give Zakat.” The Prophet said, “What made Ibn Jamll refuse to give Zakat though he was a poor man, and was made wealthy by Allah and His Apostle? But you are unfair in asking Zakat from Khalid as he is keeping his armor for Allah’s Cause (for Jihad). As for Abbas bin ‘Abdul Muttalib, he is the uncle of Allah’s Apostle (p.b.u.h) and Zakat is compulsory on him and he should pay it double.” Sahih Al-Bukhari, Obligatory Charity Tax (Zakat), Volume 2, Book 24, Number 547

Those Islamic Terrorist organisations fall under “Fi sabi `Lillah” or those ‘in the path of God’

    Fi Sabi-Lillah
This means ‘in the path of God’ and pertains to anyone struggling for a righteous cause, including but not limited to the expenditure towards the promotion of Islam and for all charitable purposes. This also includes Jihad. Those struggling for Allah.

Towards the end of the same article…
In conclusion, the Qur’an indicates that a portion of the Zakat, Islamic charity, should be used for militant Islamic objectives. An article in the New York Times states,

Terrorist groups rely on contributions from wealthy religious conservatives in the Persian Gulf as well as from money diverted from the zakat — the mosque collection plate — on several continents. Money is often funneled through reputable charities into the hands of operatives. For instance, the World Trade Center bombing was financed through money coming from the Alkifah Refugee Center in Brooklyn. And the system of funneling money through charities has improved greatly since then.

FURTHER PROOF that Zakat Funds Terrorism:
The 9/11 Commission found that Al Qaeda was funded “almost entirely” by zakat and sadaqa (donations beyond the 2˝ zakat rate).

Quote from the 9/11 Commission Report:

Bin Laden did not fund al Qaeda through a personal fortune and a network of businesses in Sudan. Instead, al Qaeda relied primarily on a fund-raising network developed over time.
The CIA now estimates that it cost al Qaeda about $30 million per year to sustain its activities before 9/11 and that this money was raised almost entirely through donations.

    FURTHER PROOF:

“Conquer the world through Halal movement”
In 2010, the mufti of Bosnia-Herzegovina Mustafa Ceric, a Muslim Brotherhood leader in Europe, has evoked this project of Islamic conquest in a speech given in Islamabad (Pakistan) at the Global Halal Congress – Reported by the Daily Mail (Islamabad) and archived by GMBDR

In her March 13 report broadcast on Dumont le midi TV show, journalist Caroline Lacroix revealed that Olymel pays thousands of dollars to the…

“Association des viandes halal that is controlled by Abou-Baker-Assedique mosque” located at 371 Jean-Talon E. in Montreal for the halal certification of its chickens.

Where does all this money collected for halal inspections, halal monitoring and halal certification fees… Where does it all go

Mu-undang lang pud cguro ko palit DVD sa colon. Magtorrent ta tanan.

I hate to butt in, but I have to say some parts of this thread are legit, although proceeds from Halal are not really that sizeable compared to other proceeds.

But some Charities are like wolves disguised in sheep wool, that when you take a glance at their M&V, they look harmless. One very good example, is the Benevolence International Foundation. This group aims to help war refugees, but a deeper investigation by the FBI, they actually funded the World Trade Center bombing way back 1993. And they're one of the hands feeding the Abu Sayyaf Group.
