What's the latest amateur Film Making Video Camera

Hey guys. What's the latest Film Making video Cam can you recommend? Cheap but can do good for a make shift movies...
I would go for Canon like ZR, Elura, or Optura series...
How about Canon XL2 or GL2 hi-ends? I know these are too expensive, but do we have something to rival this stuffs? Thanks...

They are low ends to people abroad they usually go for those 15 grand USD HD cams if you speak of Mario Van Peebles, George Lucas or Robert Rodriguez... but they're pretty high in here I guess, at least to me.

I own a ZR model but Opturas are great, cos they've got bigger lenses and the image doesn't get too washed out even if it's a single chip image censor..... heck, even Digital 8's with bigger lenses than say the ZR models don't lose that much darkness when they're digitized.

But if you're thinking of buying the Optura X.I. which would cost about 88 grand, better settle for the DCR HC-1000 from Sony which costs only 79. If I'm NOT mistaken it's taking the place of the earlier TRV 940 which is already to be phased out. And that's a triple chip, broadcast quality cam at that...

DCR HC-85 also looks pretty good a consumer camcorder from Sony.

I'm NOT too familiar but there's a Panasonic 3CCD model that is just around 30k PhP in price... It doesn't have a top grip like the ones that cost a hundred grand, but if there's one for 30 grand more or less, then I'll surely be regretful for buying that ZR model rather than that.

The point being, that we shouldn't really depend on what camera is being used. Something I learned along the way. What's important is the story and the execution of the film.

anyways, I use Sony minidv handycams, they are of good quality and is digital, so nindot pang capture through firewire.

Bitaw... Niño, bro kanang Hi-8 that's only 20k I used this format for my first film... , I don't think anyone can tell the difference if something was shot in this or the MiniDV format as long as either are consumer grade.

Great! Just asking what camrera model trends are in the market for film making these days.. Bitaw, simple camera will do man siguro, pero the high ends may have better features that cheap ones cannot do even through computer editing, like good focuses(manual) and everything else.
I agree, dili siguro kaayo mo matter and camera gigamit noh, pero a good story, coupled with good cinematography, equals great indie film! I even made a simple comedy MTV using only a Digicam, and it went well.
Ang connectivity sad ako gipangita, like downloadable through firewire para dili na lisud i-edit after.

Ambot unsa nang "high-end" or "low-end" diri but Nancy Schriber, the DP of a film called November considered the Panasonic AG-DVX100Advanced a "consumer level" camera... And she was mostly iffy of working with "consumer level" equipment because of quality daw. And that's a cam that costs more than 100 grand in here!

Although she did manage to take an award for her cinematography in that film...

i wouldnt worry too much about HD. its overhyped, its all it is. SD is still here and will remain for a couple of years.

hvx200, coming soon. does HD with expensive p2 cards. shoots native 16:9 for that widescreen output that everybody wants to have for their indie movies. its gotta be the best next gen prosumer cam. rivals are the canon xl-h2 and JVC hd100u.

currently. these three are on top. but i gotta say im biased towards the panasonic and the lens(big fan of Leica lens and cameras) and so is this link. the canon produces nice pictures though.

also, panasonic is set to release the dvx100b towards this month's end. nice revisions and all black. really nice. i dont know why i know so much about these cameras while im certainly sure i'll never get to own any of em, if i'm lucky i can get to try em, thats it. heehhe

Sony PD-170 or the VX2100 are really good cameras for anything from ENG, docus, to making indie films.

They're compact, easy to use, and wont break the bank compared to the other prosumer models.

I think you can get good deals on those considering all the new models coming out.
