THE FUTURE OF PERSONAL MOBILITY – Yamaha Tricity Launch
By Gilbert Chao, Managing Editor | MotorCycle Magazine – 5 hours ago
Have you ever heard of the expression “three’s a crowd”? Well, a crowd had definitely gathered at the SM Mall of Asia concert grounds during the official public launch of Yamaha’s new three-wheeler. The Yamaha Tricity is Yamaha Motor Philippines’ (YMPH) latest addition to their automatic motorcycle line-up. The Tricity is powered by a 124.8 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder four stroke engine that is equipped with electronic fuel-injection. It produces 8.1 kw @ 9000 rpm and 10.4 Nm @ 5500 rpm.
However, what makes the Tricity such a crowd-drawer is its Leaning Multi-Wheel (LMW) feature in which the bike is able to lean into corners even if it has three wheels. The secret is the Tricity’s Parallelogram Link System that allows the parallel leaning of the two front wheels with separate functioning of independent suspensions.
Along with Yamaha Club members and fellow motoring journalists, this writer had the privilege of experiencing the Tricity’s unique handing characteristics by riding it for a few laps around YMPH’s specially designed track. Even local celebrities who were at the event could not resist a test ride. Also present to grace the occasion were YMPH President, Toru Osugi; Sales and Marketing Director, Kaoru Ogura; Sales General Manager, Romeo Tan and Marketing Section Manager Ryan Jude Camus.
The Yamaha Tricity retails for P 146, 000 at Yamaha 3S shops nationwide. To know more about the Tricity, visit www.yamaha-motor.com.ph
