Recommendation i7 4790K or i5 4690K???

Hi guys i would like to seek a recommendation since i will be buying my new set on December.


Im confused whether to buy the i7 4790K or the i5 4690K, price difference is quite high.


Usage: Primarily for Gaming (Dota 2, Diablo 3, NBA 2K15 and Heavy Duty Games
(ea Battlefield 4, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Dragon Age: Inquisition, etc...)


Preferrence: I would be playing it on Max/High Settings and Full Screen.


Overclocking??: NO, I wont be overclocking it since i really dont want to stress my set.


MoBo: ASUS B85 Pro Gamer
GPU: ASUS GTX 760 2GB 256Bit DDR5
SSD: Transcend 128GB SSD
HDD: Western Digital 1TB
RAM: 1866MHz Corsair Vengeance 8GB
PSU: Corsair VS 650W


I really some help to somewhat narrow down my specs since im not really sure for the CPU.
And if you guys can recommend another spec on my set would be great. Thanks!!

if you're not into oc'ed go for 4690.

What i can say is i5 or i7 belonging to the same generation.... you wont see a huge difference in framerates
sa gaming. Suggestion lang nako, go for i5 and use the price difference to buy a gtx 970 4gb instead of gtx 760.
Your i5 + gtx 970 will beat the i7 + gtx 760 any day.

Ako gani i5 is still 2nd gen sandy bridge and according to the research ive made, its not even worth upgrading
this sandy bridge to haswell coz minimal gains ra kaayo in gaming. my move from hd 5850 to gtx 970 though,
shows huge gaming performance gains. enjoying shadow of mordor now at max settings.

go i5 sir since mostly pang gaming lng na imo, sayang ang i7 kng puro lng games imo gamitan.. and save ang uban for other expenses pra sa imo cpu, or puno bah ron nmo bago na monitor kboard or mouse. if tanaw nmo na mas kinahanglan jud nmo ang i7 then by all means go for it. for me i5 is more than enough for a gaming rig

korekens, for a gaming rig, an i5 is more than enough... pero, kun gamiton ug 3D rendering or video editing then money making, aw, an i7 is recommended... but, kun ang 3D rendering or video editing work loads kay hobby2x lang na dili maka kita'g kwarta, an i5 is enough lang gihapon...

i'm an user of a SB i5-2550K... OC'ed to 4.6 GHz then paired it w/ a GTX 670 SLI (balik napud ug OC ni ang pair ron)... sutoy sa akoang game na gidula. taas kaayo'g fps. puro man ni mga bug-at na FPS games (as of the moment)... Crysis 3, FarCry 3, BF4 and BF3 (gaan man ning GFX sa BF3 na)... the 16 GB mem (this is an overkill for a gaming rig. ayaw mo sunod nko) was also OC'ed to 2400 MHz... wla pa ko naka kita'g reason na mag upgrade ko ani... hehehe... i'm looking forward to own and play FarCry 4 ron... wla pa ko maka palit...

so TS, kun gaming rig lang, i5 lang palita then ihapak ang extra budget for a powerful GPU para "All Smiles" ka mag duwa. ikaw na pili unsa ng GPU. it "must" be above GTX 760 para dili ka ma igo's sakit napud. "but" kumabte gyud hinoon nang GTX 760 pud (bang for the money pud ni na GPU). ayaw ka guol na ang sticker sa CPU nimo kay Core i5 lang and not Core i7... kana kun ipapilit nimo pud ang dala na CPU sticker... hehehe...

kun dili ka mag "OC" diay, ayaw na palit ug "K" variant CPU. kalas2x lang ka's gasto ana... pero, padulong man gyud ka'g ka adik ani bah, better, OC ready HW lang gyud ang palita para iwas sakit... iwas "upgraditis"... hehehe... if you'll change your mind na mag OC ka, then change also your mobo. if dili, change your CPU to a non-K variant...

Thanks! I see, so overclocking rajud ang difference sa "k" variant ang stock speed raman sad nuon.. magresearch ko more for GTX 970 tngali pud mahal ra kaau... going for budget set ra ko.. kay ako plan after 2 years pako mo upgrade.

gaming rajud ako purpose ako rig for future heavy games pud mga games coming 2015.

mo matter sad ba ang MoBo sa i5 og sa gtx 960 nahan jud ko sure ko ani nila before ko mo palit by DEC.

^ clock for clock, mas pas2x ang HW compared sa SB... kay mag sugod pa man ka'g pabarog, better, Haswell nag ang palita.

for the mobo, ang mo matter lang kay kun pwede na sya ma OC, pila ka GPU ang supported nya... kun mag multi-GPU config ka... ug pila kabuok ang SATA ports na need nimo. basically, ang magdala ani kay ang mobo chip set. tanan mobo, compatible na sla sa mga PCIe GPUs... the rest of the HW lang ang tan-awon kun kaya ba nila ang power sa GPU. atoa lang kuha-on ang mga oldy techs. sugod lang ta's SB micro-architecture (intel) and AM3+ (AMD) and their corresponding chip set... bisan pa ang pinaka kusog powerful na GPU, compatible sila. ang pangutana kun ang CPU, maka pagawas ba ug at least 90% sa power sa GPU as minimum... ideal gyud na maka support ang CPU ug 100% power sa GPU para dili kalas ang na gasto...
