Question Kinsa mga Civil Engineers diri - GPU for your Structural Application (Professional Application)... an Inquiry

    Peeps,

Kinsa ang mga Civil Eng'rs diri or Civil Engineering Students? Ask ko ninyo kun unsa ang ma recommend ninyo na GPU for your Professional Application. I'll give a present to my bro. Feedback sya na kun dako ang file sa AutoCAD ug katong isa na Structural apps, hinay kuno ang loading pero, once naa na, ok ra kuno... his CPU is a G2130 w/ 8 GB DDR5 1600 MHz system mem and a GT 640 2 GB DDR3 VRAM.

plano nko, akoa sya hatagan ug Nvidia Quadro 4000 or K4000 pero, sa pag basa2x nako, for AutoCAD, nice man ang review sa GTX 750 Ti... price wise, almost 2x ang price difference nila sa Quadro 4000 ug more than 2x price difference nila sa Quadro K4000... i'll also give him an i5 or i7 but latter lang ni... this will be a new rig for his Professional Application use... if kumbati ra ning GTX 750 Ti, well, kani lang ang GPU ang akoang paliton... and it would be an inno3D GTX 750 Ti iChiLL or the fastest GTX 750 Ti to date, the Zotac GTX 750 Thunderbolt...

Professional Applications - GeForce GTX 750 Ti Review: Maxwell Adds Performance Using Less Power

kamo dha, unsa man ang ma recommend ninyo na GPU for this type of use... mag render man pud kuno... no idea ko's details. wla pa mi mag istorya'g maayo about ani. mauwaw man sya... hehehe... mo graduate sya sa USC-TC this coming March puhon... para pud ni pang sideline nya ang upcoming rig...

lastly, for rendering application that's CPU intensive, unsa ang ma recommend ninyo... the Intel Extreme CPU family is out of the equation for now... hehehe... kun ok ang previous technology on a "dual" LGA 1366 Xeon... X5650 (6 cores, 12 threads and 12 MB cache) on a Civil Engineering Professional Application, kani lang siguro na HW workstation akoang paliton para nya...

what do you think mga bros & sis'? rain down your comments...

    Thanks...

by the way, akoang budget sa GPU nya for this rig would be around 2K rmb... approx, 15K php... i can stretch the budget to 20K php if needed... kun naa'y mas better na GPU for this application than the GTX 750 Ti and the Quadro 4000/K4000, i'll check that too... pero, kun ok ra gyud ang GTX 750 Ti, kani lang kay barato... hehehe...

for rendering work load diay, need sya'g another GPU to do the job... this will be dealt accordingly once needed but at 1st, ang main GPU lang usa akoang paliton...

para nako, civil engg does very little rendering unless hes doing more than structural design for buildings.

structural frame doesnt require rendering. shaded lang will look pretty good na.

GPU depends on what structural program hes using, dili kayo ko familiar ani.
kung autocad lang 750ti should be fine overkill gani for 2d.

cpu intensive rendering should go with most number of processing treads. if i were to redo my setup, id go overclockable i7 cpu and overclock it to its max. this is however for my requirement. mao ni ako mahay sa ako setup.
although if he doesnt do much rendering, i5 overclocked would be great. overclocked haron paspas na mga computations in between commands. also for analysis kay calculation intensive kaayo na.

    thanks bros...

ako 550ti raman gani. not using acad anymore tho, using 3d program revit 2014.

sa rendering panagsa ra kaayo mga gpu rendering kay mahal and dili ko ka games while nag render. when i am using cpu rendering, labi na kung kahibaw ko dugay gyud mahuman, id set 6 processing treads sa affinity sa ako renderer and i just render while i play games. dala sad relax and unwind.

about sa SSD, palitan to nko sya pud ug 128 GB... for OS and important Structural or AutoCAD Apps lang nya. more than enough na ni siguro... sya na palit puhon kun ganahan sya mag upgrade... hehehe... i'll support him on the basic configuration though para, gamay2x na lang pud ang iyahang ilisanan or pun-anan...

depende how much "stress" iya works mabuhat. naa koi archi client who does autocad layouts and render daw for viewing purposes(not full detailed rendering) and ok raman on a basic desktop pc based on lga 1155 and 8gb ram. he even has old p4 for layouting. depende ra siguro mugamit and paggamit. but since you are paying for them, well i would ask the best setup even if wala pa ko ana na level at the moment...

    bro lloyd.

suggestion lng nako. since i do a lot of cad and cg. kung serious cya s iyang career as designer in structural or s 3d rendering, go for quadro. medyo mahal pero sulit kaau pag longterm use. pero kung slight lng iya gamit mag gaming gpu na lng cya practical pa.. base s ako experience, 280x/970 ko s ako personal rig, K4000 gamit s office. dako jud deperensya ang quadro labi na ug complex na ang design. and accurate ang visualization s texture s imo model. pero kaya ra ghapon kaau s mid to high end gaming gpus. mafeel lng nmo ang lag jud pero workable kaau.

sa cpu sd, kung CAD works lng di kaau na cya cpu/memory intensive bsan gani i5 bawt2x ra performance s i7 if identical cla ug GPU ky GPU intensive jud ang CAD.if mag render na anha nana mo kick in ang CPU threads ug RAM.

kana sd loading nga dugay kaau problema na s HDD ky bisan unsa ka kusog ang imo CPU ram mag bottleneck ghapon s HDD, solution ana SSD

    @ bro werty,

mao gyud bro, depende ra gyud ni sa gamit. dili man gud ko suhito aning AutoCAD kay its not a part of my work load man. ingon man akoang bro na ok ra kuno for now. akoa lang andaman ni puhon ug rig na magamit para generate ug income...

ako lang, na samtang naa pa ko diri's Shanghai, paliton nko ang needed na HW para sa workstation rig kay daghan man ug mapili-an diri man gud...

    @ bro cointoss,

thanks... akoa pa ning paminawon unsa gyud ang plano ani nya... puslan man mao ning passion nato pud, akoang support-tahan ning future puhon sa akoang bro. how about sa CPU kun mag render, kaning dual Xeon X5650, kumbate ra kaha ni? oldy tech man hinoon ni sila. kun ang apps, mo utilize ug multiple cores, 12 cores and 24 thread man ning dual Xeon X5650, unsa kaha ang performance nya if, i-compare nato's Haswell i5 or i7 "K" CPUs... naa ko nakit-an diri na X5650 priced at 450 rmb (each)... maguwang lang gamay sa G2130... barato kay obsolete naman lagi. then ang dual socket mobo, naa'y tag 7K (ASUS)... RDIMM, daghan diri ug barato kaayo... lumsan ta ni'g mem modules ang rig... hehehe... snub lang ko diay sa EVGA SR-2 kay sakit pa gihapon sya'g presyo diri. sa net, daghan nagamit ug dual X5650 and OC'ed nila on the EVGA SR-2 mobo...

if mag quadro GPU, 100% workstation rig gyud sya...

sa pagka karon diay, estudyante pa man, so, ang current rig lang sya nya gamit for his Application... akoa diay to'ng palitan ug SSD (128 or 256 GB) for OS and some important apps w/c require fast loading time...

by the way, ang iyahang gi sulti namo hinay kay inig load sa dako na file. not the loading on the AutoCAD itself. currently, normal load time ra man kay naka HDD @ 7200 rpm ra man sya. kaning gi sulti nya, normal ra ni kay dako man na file diay then HDD pa mag access...
