Thread: 1st DIY PC.

  1. #1

    Default 1st DIY PC.

Mangayo ta ko ug insights regarding sa ako specs for my 1st diy pc. Tech noob pa jud ko and karon ra ko gabasa2 sugod about pc's (hence napadpad ko diri sa istorya by recomendation sa ako amigo, and yes iya ni acct :3 )

Any recomendations and insights lang or if naa ba need i-improve. Buying this weekend sguro puhon.
    Links provided.

    CPU: Intel i7 - 4790
    Mobo: Gigabyte g1 Sniper b6 (GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1150 - G1.Sniper B6 (rev. 1.0))
GPU: XFX r9 280x Double Dissipation Black Edition (AMD Radeon R9 280X Black Double Dissipation Edition - R9-280X-TDBD)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8gb (4x2) Low Profile Green (Vengeance® Low Profile)
    HDD: 1TB WD 7200rpm Green
PSU: Thermaltake Smart SE 730 Mod (Thermaltake - Global - Smart SE 730W - SPS-730M)
    Corsair VS 650w (VS Series)
Case: Corsar 200r (Carbide Series® 200R Compact ATX Case)
Monitor: HKC 21.5" (Enigma Technologies Inc)
    Hanns-G 21.5" (Hanns-G HL227DBB 21.5" LED monitor 5ms Full HD 250 cd/m2 X-Contrast 15,000,000:1 - Newegg.com)

Monitor: Still torn between aning 2. Since medyo ning all out ko sa ako budget sa cpu, i have to find a cheap 1080p monitor. Hanns-G has some good reviews though. Naa ba mga users ani diri?

PSU: TT and Corsair has the same manufacturer (CWT) as ive read so sguro mao2 ra ni sila quality wise. Leaning towards TT since modular and flat wires. Same price rasad sila.

RAM: adding another 8gb or 16gb pag mejo nakalugar2.

STORAGE: Definitely adding SSD early next year.

PC USES: Im a film student and I edit videos as a hobby. Not really graphics heavy since I have my MMA buddy. Sya bahala sa mga effects, while I direct the scenes and butang mga necessary transitions.

I am a big fps guy sad. From CS, DeltaForce, COD, BF, MoH, and karon trying my hands on Crysis.

So mao ng ni go ko sa i7 and r9 280x combo. Practical ra ba?

3months in the making ni na pc. Dili ko sure if sakto ba ni ako gipangbutang. So patabang ta ko diri.

    Salamat kayo.

kun wla'y problem sa budget, an i7 is nice... pero, sayang ang money... if you want to get a bang for the money, go i5... its more than enough for a gaming rig and will ask for more... hehehe...

usually man gud, sipa ni'g dungog ang naka i7 kay best of the crop man ni... a "nice to have" or "wants" lang ni sya. kun performance to price ratio lang ang pangita-on, i5 (K variant... the fastest K variant of the current i5 series) gyud ang swak sa usual na "need"... kana kun makadawat sa lower prestige than owning an i7... hehehe...

pero, bro, kani lang timan-i... "wala'y maka buot kun unsa ang atoang paliton... atoa bitaw nang money"... hehehe... so, kun asa ang gusto, pitia para dili mag sakit ug upgraditis in no-time...

Enough rba sad ang high end na i5 for video editing? Dili ra layo ug perf sa i7? So ang overclocked i5 will match an i7?

^ enough ra kaayo bro... duol2x ra na sila'g performance sa i7 on gaming and video editing. difference is not "night & day"... and yes, an OC'ed i5 will match a non-OC'ed i7... gamit nko diri kay i5-2550K OC'ed to 4.6 GHz... kun mag video edit ko, pas2x sya. samot na nang mga i5 Haswell ron...

Wla ko nka consider going for the oc path tho. Since noob pko and I have no idea unsaon pa. One thing I'm concerned tho is handled ba sa mobo ang oc features.

^ Yes sakto boss i5 is enough for gaming, even an i3+ a discrete GPU is enough. .so cguro in your side ako ma recommend is i5-4690 + R9 280X will really do the job!. .and yes a B85 Mobo will do since dili ka mag Overclock..

Sa HDD (1TB WD 7200rpm Green), if you will use this as a main drive (for OS and apps), i will recommend you get the WD Blue or Black instead. .kay ang WD Green is for storage purposes only (movies, pictures, documents, etc.)

Black = Performance (OS, Games, Programs)
Green = Storage (Movies, Pictures, Music)
Blue = Anything - Middle (For storage, OS and apps)

Sa PSU, i'll choose the Corsair since it's a good brand and it's reliable, so Corsair VS 650 it's a good choice, but depende ra gyud na nimo your preference hehe. .pwde pd ka mo aim like Silverstone and Seasonic PSU's..they are good ones also. .

I'm also an FPS guy. and I have the R9 280x is a great choice. I am using a 1080P 23" monitor and yes some of the FPS games like Call of duty, battlefield, Titanfall, etc. mostly maka HIGH settings ka but sa Crysis og Far Cry hubakon ka. .hehe. .

Good luck on your build bro..

I7 - sakto ra ni for your purpose, editing and fps types.
hdd - dont use green drives for boot.
mobo - since non-window type man ka ug case pwede ka regular-looking 1150 mobo.

other parts-if u can find sources unya justified ang cost, then go.

if mag i5 ko ron, makapalit pa kog decent na monitor ani haha pero since im doing video editing a lot, and mild 3D rendering, sufficient raba ang i5 jud ana? worth it ba ang additional 4k price difference nila?

Did not know naa diay color coding ang HDD lol. Gipili nako na kay green ako theme.
Will go for Blue. or if naay Black then kto ako kuhaon.

^ Basically for Video Editing bro depende jd na sya sa imong apps gi gamit. In my own idea, video editing makes use of multiple processing cores, the more cores you have, the faster you can manipulate and edit videos, that's why multithreaded processor is recommended. Higher cores = Faster rendering.

    @ bro wytdevil1234,

unsa man ang gamit gyud sa rig nimo... like sa video editing and 3D rendering, for money making ni? if yes, utong for the i7. if hobby2x lang, bisan pa'g sige ka'g gamit nya, an i5 is more than enough. labi na, limited ang imohang dough... akoang recommendation bro is not to have the "Best CPU that you can buy w/out a limit on the budget"... but it's the Best CPU you can buy on limited budget" that would be intended for multi-core productivity application...
