I don't consider this as a mere act. I'd like to think the government really wanted to send a strong message to those smugglers and corrupt government officials that the matter will be taken seriously and accordingly.

If we are to put these luxury cars into public bidding, it looks like we will just be tolerating these smugglers since they will just be the highest bidders of the cars. It's as if we have just tolerated the practice again and again.

Now, the government should go against the smugglers and the corrupt BOC officials involved in this case. This will resolve the issue with finality.
