A PATIENT from the Cebu Doctors’ Hospital lost P10,000 cash to a lone robber who pretended to be a doctor and went inside the patient’s room last Saturday dawn. But the incident was reported two days after when Kyle Boholst, the boyfriend of the patient, sought the help of the Fuente Police Station.
Fuente Police Chief Wildemar Tiu said the hospital did not report the incident right away to the police
Ang pasyente pa maoy nag-inform namo pagka gawas nila sa hospital. It is the hospital’s responsibility to report incidents like this to us para maaksyonan namo,” said Tiu in an interview yesterday.
Chadelsa Binondo, human resource manager of the Cebu Doctors’ Hospital, said the hospital promised to improve their security.
“We have already met with our security agency and discussed ways so that this won’t happen again,” said Binondo.
As seen in the security camera, the robber, who was wearing a blue shirt, entered the hospital at 1:28 a.m. last Saturday.
There were no guards in the main entrance.
The robber entered four rooms, but it was in Boholst’s room that the robber was able to take a sling bag containing P10,000 and assorted identification cards.
“Kaning tawhana nag-door to door gyud siya. Nataymingan siguro nga sa room ni Boholst duna siyay gamit makawat,” explained Tiu.
He said Boholst and her girlfriend were sleeping that time. After taking the sling bag, the robber went out of the hospital.
“Paggawas niya sa hospital, wala gihapoy guard that time,” said Tiu.
Binondo said the hospital will strictly impose the visiting passes after the visiting hours.
“This is not the first time that this happened, but in the previous incidents naarest ra man pud to,” she said. But the hospital’s human resource manager could not recall the details of the other incidents.
Tiu suggested that the rooms in all hospitals should be locked and only the employees should have access to the rooms.
