Default Davao mayor proposes shift to federal gov’t

    Monday, October 6, 2014

IF CONGRESS supports constitutional change, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said Filipinos should demand for a shift to a federal form of government.
Duterte said that by having federal states, economic development would no longer be focused in the National Capital Region.
Duterte, who was in Cebu last Sunday, said that he is not in favor of amending the 1987 Constitution, even for economic reasons.

Some sectors raised the need to amend the constitutional provision preventing foreigners from owning real property in the Philippines. The proposal seeks to attract more investments to the country.
But Duterte is against it. “If that will happen, Chinese nationals who are awash with cash will buy all our lands and the Filipinos will become squatters,” he said.

The Davao City mayor reiterated he is not interest in running for president in 2016.
But during the induction of officials of the Federal Advocates for a Better Philippines Inc. in Cebu, he said that if he is fated for Malacañang, he will clean up the government, the military, police and the judiciary in the first year of his term.
He said corruption and lawlessness abound in many branches of government.
Duterte also said that getting the support of Congress is crucial for a president’s success.
“If they (congressmen and senators) will not support me in attaining good governance, especially in appropriating the right budget to improve the lives of the people, I will declare a revolutionary government and abolish Congress in six months,” he said.
    Focus
Duterte said governance should focus on law and order and food security.
He also expressed his views on the establishment of a Bangsamoro state that only involves the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). “There must be a Bangsamoro nation with the MILF and Bangsamoro Tausog with former Autonomous Regional of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Nur Misuari,” he said.
Duterte was in Cebu to induct officers of the Federal Advocates for a Better Philippines Inc.
The group is headed by Alexander Bacalla, a retired general of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Other officers are: Ortillano Repollo and Eduardo Adlawan, vice presidents; Vicente Gambito, auditor; lawyer Vincent Isles, secretary; Grace Gemino, treasurer; and Rodulfo Taneo, Domingo Luego, Jovencio Patindol, Paulino Gequillo, Constancio Panilag, Abundio Lusocon, Daniel Cutamora, Victor Quijano and Rogelio Quezon, directors.
Former Cebu governor Emilio Osmeña, former Cebu vice governor Enrique Rama, Bukidnon Gov. Jose Zubiri, Southern Leyte Gov. Oging Mercado were also present during the event.

duterte has been exercising a federal type of gov't in his municipality all throughout his tenure. we are partly federal and decentralized with a touch of being 'centralized'. govt claimed to be centralized because of these 200+ f_cktards at the lower house but common sense tells us that it is far from being that. ngano man d.i ug tagaan na lang ni ug autonomy ang LGU nato para self-sustaining di na mag salig sa national? atong tax mag tuyok2 ra sa cebu di na moabot ug manila. bolok nga gobyerno, bolok na systema pati ako excise tax gipatas-an.

Ok sad ko ani. Total, the government are open on giving the MNLF and now MILF autonomous government, like the ARMM and now Bangsamoro. Why not the rest of the Philippines.

Thank you for that. I admire people with a heart like yours. (And Duterte too, of course..)

Because I've been jobless since 2011, 24 na akong edad. (College graduate ko.)

Halos call center jobs nalang akong makit-an sa mynimo.ph ug jobstreet.com.ph. Spam pa jud kaayo sila sa ilang posts. Unya kung mangapply ko ug company na dili call center, ang dawaton ra nila kay mga Intsik ug non-Cebuanos ra pud. Lol.
