In South Korea, child and teenage gamers were banned from playing online games between midnight and 6 a.m.

This online curfew was challenged in court on the grounds that it violated the fundamental rights of parents to educate their children.

Although the South Korean Supreme Court ruled in favor of the curfew, many parents, teachers and people in the gaming industry continued to protest against the government’s involvement in children’s’ online activities.

Now, a spokesman from the Department of Gender Equality and Family has announced that the mandatory six-hour ban will be lifted and parents will be allowed to choose the time slot during which their children will be restricted from playing online games.
