i was there two weeks ago. Tokyo is an expensive city to stay. the cheapest place to stay there would be their "capsule" type of accommodation specially for backpackers.. If you are looking for the normal room type with private bathrooms and stuffs, the range usually per night is 4k up. We stayed at Ueno Tokyo. There are a few decent hotels there that costs 4k up per room gud for 2 persons.
hope you will enjoy tokyo as much as we did
