hahahaha "That Whacked Out Ending," I can't get out of my head too.
It was too abrupt. Though the explanation in this article does not thoroughly satisfies me, you may want to read this:

It's a very interesting film but my biggest gripe about it is that it is too self-indulgent and trying too hard to be artsy and I can't help but compare it with the more masterful "Mulholland Drive". The director's (Denis Villeneuve) better film is "Incendies," which you might want to check out too.
