I've been working in a certain computer industry were we talk about the pros and cons of using Windows 8 and/or Windows 7. Here's my two cents for you ts:

Windows 7:
- Looks pretty similar to Vista and/or XP.
- Pretty much functional but heavy.
- Can multi-task especially if you have a powerful processor (i3, i5, or i7)

Windows 8/8.1:
- Somewhat peculiar because it looks like a gigantic tablet haha.
- Works best for both touch and non-touch.
- Better resource management
- Faster boot/shut down times
- Hyper-V
- light weight
- streamlined
- Has built-in Antivirus, no need to buy another one.
- Has a little learning curve, but no biggie.

I am using Windows 8 and can't remember exactly how to use Windows 7 anymore since I shifted to this OS. I've been in loved with Windows 8 the first time I used it.
