A wii remote, a projector (or a computer monitor), a bluetooth-capable computer, and an IR pen is all you need to set-up a DIY cheap interactive whiteboard. It was popularized by Johnny Chung Lee, a Human-Computer Interactions (HCI) researcher by tapping on the inherent IR tracking (via the IR camera ) of the wii remote to track blobs of IR lights within its field of view.
One key component for the setup ( aside the the wii remote, which is ubiquitous) is the IR Pen. There are available models for sale online, but you can create one yourself.
Although it has been more than 4 years since the hack was introduced, not many enthusiasts in the Philippines have ventured into creating their set-up owing to the fact that the recommended IR led (Vishay TSAL6400) for the IR pen is not readily available. I can help with that.
