I don't believe we ever stop loving our first love, but it will hopefully become a passive love, allowing you to remember the good times they gave to you without the need to have them in your life now. Because it is not her you are still in love with. It is just the feeling you had when you were together. It has little to do with the person and more to do with the idea and feeling the same way you did. And because ultimately, you're a different person from when the two of you were together, and what you're remembering is undoubtedly an idealistic version of this person. Yet, the past made you who you are, and that is something to appreciate.
Any other thoughts about this?
