Default The TETRAD - signs in the skies

'Tetrad' alignment of Mars, Earth and sun could mean end of days is approaching | Mail Online

Next week begins the start of the 'Tetrad,' a series of lunar eclipses
The four 'blood-red' moons are followed by six full moons
The cycle finishes at the end of September 2015
It coincides with an alignment of Earth, Mars and the sun
The chance alignment has only happened three times in the last 500 years

Some Christians believe the Tetrad, is a signal the end of the world is near
Tetrads are associated with significant religious events

Also known as the 'Tetrad' since it involves four successive total 'blood-red' lunar eclipses each followed by six full moons, NASA has confirmed it started Tuesday night and will end on September 28, 2015.
In the 21st century tetrads are a frequent occurrence, with nine sets in total, but this has not always been the case.

From 1600 to 1900, for example, there were none at all.
The Book of Joel in the King James Bible makes a prophecy about the blood moons and the end of the world: 'The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD comes.'

In 1493, the first Tetrad saw the expulsion of Jews by the Catholic Spanish Inquisition.
The second happened in 1949, right after the State of Israel was founded. And the most recent one, in 1967, happened during the Six-Day War between Arabs and Israelis.

The first of four total lunar eclipses in a series will soon put on a cosmic show that we'll have a front row seat to; that is if you're willing to stay up for it.

The lunar eclipse is a phenomenon where the sun, Earth and moon align and the Earth moves between the sun and the moon. When this happens, the Earth's shadow is cast on the moon.

The lunar eclipse is also known as the 'blood moon.' The moon takes on a reddish, copper color during the event thanks to the refraction of sunlight through the Earth's atmosphere. Refraction is also the reason why we have blue skies during the day and red sunsets in the evening.

The tetrad, meaning group of four, means that there are four lunar eclipses in a series that will happen over a relatively short period of time. The first of these is April 14th/15th. The other three will be in October 2014, April 2015 and September 2015.

Here in Jacksonville, the events should easily be seen but you'll have to stay up well past your bedtime to see it. The total lunar eclipse begins at 12:54 a.m. with total coverage at 3:46 a.m.

The tetrad has some Christians pontificating that the end of days are nigh. Pastor John Hagee of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas points to the Book of Joel 2:31 that reads: "The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come."

Pastor Hagee claims that the tetrad often relates to terrible and great events pointing to King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain expelling the Jews and Columbus discovering 'the infant nation' in 1492. Other examples include the Holocaust and the founding of Israel as a nation in 1948 as well as the Six Day War and the inclusion of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in 1967. All these events coinciding with the tetrad.

Other astronomers aren't convinced. According to Earthsky.org, a total of eight tetrad events will take place between 2001 and 2100. To further prove the point, Earthsky says there will be 62 tetrad events from 1 A.D. to the year 2100.

Adding to the hysteria is the fact that the eclipse events coincide with two important Jewish holidays: Passover and Tabernacles. However, Earthsky.org points to the fact that the Jewish calendar is a lunar calendar therefore inevitable that these events would fall on or near the feast of Passover eventually.

Whether this event is truly trumpeting the end of days or is a spectacle that signals nothing more than the aligning of space bodies is irrelevant. Neither of which can be stopped regardless. What makes this event really interesting in my opinion is witnessing an event that nobody in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries saw.

The icing on the cake? Mars will also be seen next to the moon during the first lunar eclipse and it too will appear even more red than normal.

    Exciting!!!!

In 2014 – 2015 a rare sequence of Tetrad Red Blood Moon lunar eclipses will occur on the Jewish Holidays of Passover and the Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles). Two solar eclipses will also occur in 2015 on the Jewish New Years for KINGS and Feast of Trumpets Holidays. Comet ISON was vaporized by the Sun on November 28th, 2013 which was Thanksgiving Day – and the Jewish Holiday of Hanukkah. ISON translated into Hebrew means DISASTER or ACCIDENT !
( * Special Note * ) The 14th April 2014 Jewish Passover and 8th October 2014 Sukkot Lunar Eclipses take place on the SAME EXACT DATES as did the 70 AD Jewish Passover & Sukkot – Feast of Tabernacles lunar eclipses which occurred when the Roman Army destroyed the 2nd Jewish Temple & Masada Military Fortress effectively ending over 1,000 years of Jewish rule in the Nation of Israel !

Meanwhile for those who want to enjoy the Blood Moon eclipse on April 15 as plainly an astronomical occurrence, here is the timeline as supplied by the Universe Today:

    • Begins at 4:37 Universal Time (UT)/12:37 AM EDT, when the Moon enters the western edge of the Earth's shadow known as the penumbra
    • The Moon will be completely immersed in the penumbra by 5:58 UT/1:58 AM EDT, only a faint tan should be expected
    • Totality of the eclipse begins at 7:06 UT/3:06 AM EDT and lasts until 8:24 UT/4:24 AM EDT
    • Mid-eclipse occurring just south of the center of the Earth's shadow at 7:46 UT/3:46 AM EDT
    • The eclipse ends as the Moon slides out of the penumbra at 10:37 UT/ 6:37 AM EDT.
