(This is an open letter to Cebu City Mayor tomas Osmeña)

I read with disbelief that you are supportive of Citom’s suggestion to remove the roofs of all the skywalks in the city to discourage vagrants and mendicants from making these their dwelling places.

Tell me it isn`t true.

So what will happen if after the removal of the roofs these people are still there with makeshift roofs?

Will you then recommend the removal of the skywalks altogether?

It’s tantamount to burning the whole barn just to get rid of a few mice the farmer cannot catch.

Without the roofs, the general public will all the more shun these skywalks and just cross the streets, especially if it’s raining.

Why don’t you have these mendicants and vagrants arrested or moved to some other areas where they will not be a problem?

why not? since gipuy an naman dihag mga taong grasa nya baho na kaayo agi-an then di maN kaha maka maintain ang goberno ana, tangtangi nalang nag atop. at least kung mag uwan mawala pa ang bahos angso diha then wa nasad gyuy ganahan mo tambay diha. ngano man diay, kung molabang kas tunga2 sa dalan nga di ka mugamit og skywalk, di diay ka ma initan? ka arte pud nato og hadlok ta ma initan oiz! kana sang mga girls kay magda man sad na silag payong og mga guys, hadlok mo mo-itom? di man siguro ka ma negro mo agi ka diha.. less than 5 minutes raman gani siguro ka ma buwads init diha...

Without the roofs, the general public will all the more shun these skywalks and just cross the streets, especially if it’s raining.

Why don’t you have these mendicants and vagrants arrested or moved to some other areas where they will not be a problem?

you know, that's why we have those skywalk for us to safely cross the streets... it's appalling to know that without the roof you'd endanger limbs and life just to save you from sweating and getting a bit of sunlight... maong kitang mga pinoy wa tay asenso kay asyoso kaayo ta... tapolan kaayo... manaway ta nga daghan kaayong mga drivers nga mga violator unya utro pud diay ta!

by the way, kato ako sulti sa ibabaw regarding stupid solution, i meant to comment on the idea that they will remove the roof para mawala mga vendors. that's a stupid solution. it's just like banning the use of celphones para mawala ang mga snatchers.
