Exclamation LTO, Customs to strictly enforce EO 156 ban on 'surplus cars'

It's official: The Land Transportation Office has announced that it will uphold "the constitutionality and legality of Executive Order 156" and go after used vehicles that were imported illegally into the Philippines.

"We would like to warn the general public and those who still entertain the thought of buying cheap and readily available surplus vehicles...to drop such a silly idea or suffer the consequences of being inconvenienced in the difficulty of the renewal of its registration in the future," the LTO said in a statement. "All motor vehicles registered in violation of EO 156 can never be renewed again. If ever renewed, such registration is considered illegal and any LTO official found to have registered vehicles in violation of EO 156 can be held criminally and administratively liable for his illegal acts."

Executive Order 877, which incidentally was also signed by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (who signed EO 156 in 2002), states that used vehicles may still be brought into the country but these cannot go outside the "secured, fenced-in freeport zones."

"We will uphold the recent Supreme Court ruling and enforce all the provisions of EO 156 regarding restrictions on the importation of used cars," added Bureau of Customs commissioner Ruffy Biazon. "I advise car buyers to be sure of the vehicles they are buying and to get them only at legitimate sources and dealers."

ang tibuok LTO ug police/HPG man ang palpak ani nga balaod.
nag libog pa ni sila ug unsa-on ni pag implement...after 50years pa ni sila maka decide, enough time nga madunot na sa sige ug gamit ug enough time para makabawi sa puhunan ug ginansiya ang mga negosyante ug ang mga namalit...win-win situation.

    banned on surplus vehicles like

all privates sedan, 2dr, SUV and AUV?.. and shall we call it cleaning the closet for all?

there are public vehicles running that are imported/surplus like
    public/passenger/cargo vehicle

    Heavy
    trucks
    buses
    Trailer truck
    Prime movers
    4/6/10 wheeler
    tanker truck
    Flat bed and open trucks
    forklift
    cranes
    dumptrucks and other construction vehicles

4 wheeler cargo truck, converted to passenger vehicle
    multicabs/PUV's

    if tinud-on dyd
    PROS
increase sales in locally made vehicle for cargo, passenger and other utility vehicle
increase sales in vehicle imported (tax paid)
    less traffic
    less demand of fuel
    less vehicle related accident
Citie's can now use railroad as mode of transport
increase sales of motorcycle (uban mg tricycle nlang ang uban ky mao ry ma apord)

    CONS
less road users means less registrations of vehicle's in LTO and LTFRB b what #?less tax collected
closure of some companies that are using surplus/imported vehicles which results to loss of job, business
closure of some companies which business are into or related to imported vehicle, parts including accessories, consumable products
like tires and oil, loss of jobs and business
closure of repair shops, loss of jobs and business
since less truck for cargo transport, it will affect mobilization of products nationwide
since motorcycle ra ma afford, pirti na ani k daghan motor (if not regulated)
for passenger transport, since bawal ang surplus nga multicab, bsn ang mga karaan nga UV express
himoon nang jeep or managhan ang tricycle sa highway

there are several factors.. dapat dydning hinuktukan ug hunaon2x...
