Default Starting over Again (What Language(s) to Learn)

What programming language(s) should I study, learn and be proficient with? I want to become a successful software engineer.

I am a computer engineering graduate, but i havent been really serious during my school days thus havent learned anything serious...and now that im looking for work that's in line with my degree, all i have searched requires proficiency in programming languages...

Any idea on where to start and what resources and materials to use for effective studying?

start to learn the basic foundation of programming.
pick a language and learn the core of it first before jumping to specific technology.

by language i meant, programming language such as C,C++, Java, C#
and by technology: Web, Mobile, Desktop, games, etc.

things you really need to learn in programming.
basic programming (code flow, functions, strings, conditional statements, algorithms, etc).
Object Oriented concepts( class, polymorphism, inheritance, etc)
    Design Patterns

if you get the grasp of programming, shifting from language to language is just learning the semantics or syntax. all you need is to learn how to actualy write code.

I agree with cebugdev, ang foundation sa programming jud mao masteron kay diha ra man magtuyok-tuyok ang different programming languages. Syntax ra ang mausab2 pero ang concepts kay mao ra man ghapon...

Thanks for the advice mga boss, really appreciate it!

...maybe i'll start with C since it's the language i'm most familiar with(actually the only language i know out of those other 3 mentioned(java,c++,c sharp)...
    ...then maybe java after c...

sorry to be blunt, but sayangan lang ko naminaw sa degree course

OT: try to start learning on which you think you can understand easily. ang sayon to start with is php, css, html stuffs. and don't forget that google is your friend too for the things you need while self-studying.
