Kamagayan Sunken Park

It was recently printed in our local newspapers that Mayor Tom would want to convert Barangay Kamagayan into a sunken park so as to relieve the downtown area of the perennial floods everytime there is a great outpouring of heavy rains spawned by typhoons & depressions. In so doing, informal settlers have to be evicted & relocated somewhere else & the current wet & dry market at Citi Center have to be demolished to give way to this development.

personally, i find this to be a very unusual solution and a bold move. they should name it kamagayan dam or reservoir, hehehe!!!

It used to be a swampy area & it acts like a pressure-release check valve everytime the city's creeks & waterways tend to overflow thus easing the river's water level & does little damage & inconvenience to older settlers.
