    Default question about DDR memory

Hi, wa jud koy alam ani about comp hardware... my mobo supports ddr333 na PC2700, if i buy ddr333 ra, are there different kinds of ddr333? coz i heard about pc100 ug pc133 sauna na sdram...

or better yet... can someone explain to me unsa na ddr333 ug pc2700 for memory?

There are basically two types of memory in use they are SDRAM DIMM (Single Data Rate - Dual Inline Memory Module) mao na ang used by most computers until i think mga 1998 it has a rating of PC100 and PC133, thats 100MHZ and 133MHZ correspondingly naay diha miingon nga ilaa PC140 or PC150 pa but gi overclock ra ni nga memory there never was a PC rating higher than PC133, this has, if i remember correctly 164 or 165 pins. This type of memory is mostly no longer used but daghan pa ani sa mga surplus like Fastwin 5Jays.

The current memory being used is called DDR RAM DIMM or some computer stores call it D DRAM (Double Data Rate Dual Inline Memory Module) this is used by all the current computers now its faster than SDRAM DIMM thats why it has a rating of PC2100, PC2600, PC3200 or DDR266, DDR333, DDR400. Those values correspond to the same thing all u have to do to convert is divide or times the value by 8. This type of memory handles twice the memory instructions per cycle. ie. Hertz so thats why its called Double Data Rate. The pin configuration of DDR is different too i think 184 pin ni siya so incompatible ni sa SDRAM na socket.

So in other words kung DDR imong motherboard DDR ra gyud iya ma gamit and dili na pwede na SDRAM.

Also if your mobo says nga mo support siya DDR400 - PC3200 u can use any rating of DDR memory ie. DDR266, DDR333, DDR400 pero if u opt to use slower memory slow sab mo run imong computer.

    Hope this helps.

Well actually na try na nako ug sagol ang ddr with different ratings but only for single channel na motherboard, however the speed will be the lowest common denominator meaning kung DDR266 and DDR333 imong gi butang ur overall speed is DDR266 so better to replace all memory modules with the ones u want rather than usa usahon so u get consistent na speed.

Thanks for the info, medyo naka understand nako gamay... my mobo supports ddr333 pc2700, so pwede ra nako butangan ddr266 or ddr333, right? are all ddr333 have 184 pins? ive read about that somewhere, i cant remember na jud...

problema sa ako comp karon is that mu kalit ra sya restart... nag research ko about it and mostly kay tungod daw sa memory... so was asking about this kay basin dili compatible ang memory sa ako mobo...

Usually 80% of the time when the motherboard does not start up its not the motherboards fault but the PSU the power supply's fault most pc case that u can buy now have, pardon me for saying badly constructed power supplies. U can however check if its the power supplies problem if for example when u turn it on and then it immediately shuts down it may be because the PSU cannot maintain a good +5 volt POWER_GOOD signal to the motherboard which it interprets as a shutdown. Good luck with this info.

the psu i have is a 400W psu, im not using the free psu when i bought the case... it's really weird coz it just restarts randomly... 10 minutes after booting... 20 minutes... sometimes doesn't reboot/restart at all. is it safe to directly plug the cpu to my dc socket? (not sa avr nako)

gipa check ni nako sa ng khai and what the tech did was just reverted to the default bios settings coz my memory was set to turbo (it wasn't me who set the comp up...) wala na nag restart after he did that and he kept the comp on for the whole day...
