Difference between HD SATA and HD IDE

Hi guys,

I just need to know what's the difference between HD SATA and HD IDE and when these be used? On what board or processor nga compatible ani? and which is better?

HD sata is more transfer rate compare to ide, it will use depending on what mother board supported

Also SATA has a different connector its only about 1/2 inch in width so ok kaayo ni kung huot na ang case nimo to allow more airflow inside sa computer. Also this is a serial connection meaning one cable per storage device only not like PATA IDE nga 2 per channel but since most motherboards naa nay 4 ka SATA connectors ok lang. I've heard nga hot docking kuno ni ang SATA, u can plug it in while on ang computer pero wala pa ko ka sure ana kay if u where to plug an ordinary PATA IDE while on ang computer bad things will happen hehe . But jo_hanks is right mas faster ang SATA and it will be the standard in the future mobo so that will be the upgrade path.

you need those adaptor plugs that convert molex 4 pin to the new molex connector that SATA uses for power.

also, kung palit ka bag-o nga mobo with SATA support, naa na kaha na cya connector daan para supply power sa sata nga HD?

Usually sa mahalon ra nga motherboards makitan ang extra connectors like for sata, firewire, etc. Also kung mo palit ka ug sata na HD and wala siya kauban nga power connector adaptor makapalit na man ka ana where u bought ang HD usually naa available ana sa PCExpress or PC Quickbuys or kung ganahan ka ug cheaper kay naa sab siguro sa Tecnika sa magallanes duol.

Sata has 150Mbps rate while PATA has a max of 133Mbps. SATA is much faster but how much depents on the IDE controller of the board. Hope this helps bro.
