Have you ever noticed the transformation of music, nowadays, the style of the bands, the fashion and passion were almost the same. It's like these rhymes were already been heard before, well as you will take a sneak view of the 90's bands like, weezer, collective soul, pearl jam, lifehouse, especially eraserheads. I mean their music were really great. Undeniable and came to have a great lyrics on which nowadays only few were doing these kinds of style. Well, maybe you could notice that also.

i think that is inevitable... how many chords do you have and how many possible chord progressions and possible tunes... inevitably some song would sound like something else... i dont really know if thats a bad thing, but yes.. some songs tend to sound like others.... hehehe.. interesting post by the way

yes, and there are also "legal" rip offs, hehehe.... like sampling and with permission.....

one such song was where a popular line and tune was used was Dire Straits' Money for Nothing which distinctly had a line from The Police's Don't Stand So Close To Me in it.. I think Sting even sang a few lines on the song....

but yes.. unless not done on purpose... that should be fine... it just really cant be helped hehehe.. some songs do sound like something else hehehe

In the case of Sting's don't stand so close to me, it's perfectyle fine... He co-wrote Money for Nothing with Mark Knopfler... He even sings that part "I want my MTV"...
