Previously available only for Windows 8, the latest version of Microsoft's web browser, offered in 95 languages, is now available for users of the previous OS. IE11 is touted as faster than the previous version, and it is compatible with the latest web standards.
The software giant claims that its new browser opens web pages 30 percent faster than its competitors and that it can handle up to 100 open browsing tabs at one time in one window. Internet Explorer 11 is also compatible with all the latest web standards, including HTML5, and Microsoft hopes the browser will help pave the way for widespread access to 3D websites and apps.
The browser was officially launched on October 17, simultaneously with the launch of the Windows 8.1 update. While IE11 may be downloaded from Microsoft's website, the company is not yet offering an automatic update to previous versions of IE.
