    Default LG Nexus 5

Somewhere, A Nexus 5 Has Been Unboxed

As if the constant leaks and teasing isn’t enough, they just keep on coming. The Nexus 5 has been teased and leaked so many times by now, you may as well swing by your local Best Buy, just to check that Google hasn’t secretly released the device into the wild. Google’s Nexus devices are a pretty big deal for Google, after all they’re a chance for the search giant to show off to the world just how good Android can be, when it’s left alone. Last year’s Nexus 4 broke the rules when it went on sale unlocked for far less than comparable smartphones and this year, we’re hoping for more of the same. The Nexus 4 didn’t have LTE however, this year the Nexus 5 should right that wrong and, it’s even coming to Sprint.

Somewhere out in the world though, there is a Nexus 5 in retail packaging and this Nexus 5 has been unboxed. PhoneArena have been passed a tip that leads to a sinister screenshot hosted on Photobucket. With no further commentary or even a shot of Android 4.4, KitKat running on the device, it’s not the best photo in the world. However, the look of the packaging seems to line up with what we’ve seen before of the Nexus 5 in earlier leaks, like this one:

If you notice the shot of the back (sitting higher in this post), the LG logo is in black with the other pertinent details below. The other image of the back, in the gallery below, shows the handset without those same details and the LG logo in blue. They both however have the now familiar Nexus logo, camera lens and flash.

    ----update----

    Hands On:

A few accessories landed in the Play Store along with the Nexus 5. There are two case options. The first is a flip cover and the second is a bumper case. The catch is, while both options are listed in the Play Store at the moment — they are all still shown as coming soon.

Beginning first with the flip cover. This one is dubbed as the LG QuickCover for Nexus 5. Those considering this option will be able to choose between a Nexus 5 matching black or white. The LG QuickCover is $49.99 and as mentioned, currently shown as “coming soon.” This cover offers full device protection and will add an additional 39 grams of weight when attached to your phone.

The QuickCover promises access to your homescreen without having to swipe to unlock, sports a matte finish on the front and is compatible with wireless charging. Of course, all ports and features remain accessible as there is an appropriate cutout for the camera, flash, earpiece and more.

he Nexus 5 has dropped with Android 4.4 Kit Kat and sporting a 4.95-inch (1920 x 1080) Full HD display with a quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. The handset has options for 16GB and 32GB of internal storage, though, it doesn’t have a microSD card slot. There is also 2GB of RAM, a 2300 mAh battery, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera and 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization (OIS).

The spec sheet mentions the battery should have up to 17 hours of talk time. But perhaps key for usage today, up to 8.5 hours of WiFi surfing time and up to 7 hours of LTE surfing time. That brings the confirmation there, the Nexus 5 does have LTE support. The handset has also arrived with build-in wireless charging. Remaining specs include Adreno 330 graphics, dual-band WIFi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC and ceramic power and volume buttons.

he Nexus 5 has arrived in black and white and will be $349 for the 16GB model and $399 for the 32GB model. As for the launch, the shipping times are showing as being “dispatched from warehouse in 1-2 business days” though — we suspect that will grow as the order flow. And in addition to the phone itself, Google also has bumper cases available in a variety of colors.

Specifically, those cases are available in black, gray, red and yellow and with a price point of $34.99. Unlike the phone which has both color and both storage options available, the black, red and yellow case options are listed.
