    Default Psoriasis

When I was 7 I was diagnosed with Psoriasis, a hereditary immune-mediated disease. Psoriasis is not contagious and is very common in Europe and North America. Basically the only way you get psoriasis is if its in your genes. And my family has a history.

Basically the immune system goes nuts and starts healing a non-existent wound sans the small localized patches near my eye and scalp (mild to moderate). The skin regeneration is 10x faster than normal. (Does that make me a mutant, i wonder... ) I've been very lucky that my worst outbreak was when it first started appearing. I've been able to control it using topical steroids but even that doesn't cure it. I'm worried about long term steroidal use since it has complications like liver disease or even cancer. I'm looking for a dermatologist who specializes in psoriasis and natural therapy for psoriasis... and i've been having problems finding one since psoriasis is not that common here... I'd really appreciate it

    daivonex (ointment/cream)...is anti-psoriasis.

medyo mahal per tube, around 1,300 man tingali.
Pero depende ra pud sa skin. Ang uban mo react positively(fast), ang uban hinay.
Depende man gud pud sa imo state of well being. kung stressed ka pirme, mag show pud pirme ang imo skin lessions...mogara ba. Naa pud effect ang imo food intake...so be on the look out on what you eat. Kung modaghan or mo flare gani..hinumdumi dayon ang imong mga gipangkaon ug ang imong mga activities the past days.

If you lack sleep, murag mogara ra ba na siya.

I was diagnosed at the age of 26. Murag mao tong edara nga stressed ko pirmi, laag dire laag didto, inom dire inom didto, chicks dire chicks didto...sukol ug binuntagay, sukol ug binihagay hehehe

Karon, clean healthy living na ko. Ang maka stress ra nako is work! tsk tsk tsk pero dili man pud ta mabuhi kung wala work. kafaet!

    Good Luck!

    My experience.

I hope this will let you understand more on your condition and hopefully removes some of the stress you are experiencing.

Currently, my lessions are mostly concentrated on my scalp. Looks dandruff to the untrained eye, but its not. I do use anti-dandruff shampoo kay ang scales/flakes usahay mo breed ug dandruff.

The best shampoo that I used was Neutrogena T-Gel Shampoo. Sad to say, pangita-on kaayo dire sa Cebu. Mao tingali pud nga dili kaayo to halinon kay basin nagtoo sila nga wala epek. Unya ako na notice basta mo taas ako hair...mogara ang ako scalp flakes, so I do regularly visit my barber.

Naka sulay nako anang Ionil-T, murag isog ra kaayo sa akong scalp. Ambot lang kaha karon, try nako unya. Moderate application lang. I have to ask advise sa ako doctor...dili siya skin doctor pero I already understand my condition so I dont need a skin specialist. The internet also helps. Naka-anha na ko ana Dr. Verallo, Dr. Abella, Dr. Ramos, sa makati med nga derma clinic...Pero if you read more on Psoriasis, you will learn that skin doctors adds to the costs and stress. The irony is costs/money or the lack of it creates stress hehehe. Again, basin sa imo, skin doctors takes off some of your stress so go ahead. Dili man gud ko kwartahan hehehe

Just don't forget nga ang T-Gel or Ionil-T are mga shampoos, they are actually for the lessions/flakes on your scalp. Remember, Psoriasis feeds on your stress.

I also tried concoctions prepared by skin doctors(makati med), pwerte ra ba mahala. Yes, naa epek pero mobalik ra gihapon. Now I realized, mao tingali to nga dili maayo kay under stress man ko pirme sa Manila adtong panahona.

Sunshine also helps "calm" the lessions.
Just be active outdoors specially kanang naa "cool" sunshine, unya importante nga panington ka.
Exercise outdoors under the sun is the right term for the activity...ayaw lang sa udtong tutok ha.

I do still have brown patches at my back...they are "healed" psoriasis lessions, murag mapa lagi.
The urge to remove the scales is very strong. hehehe

Pasagda-an lang na siya unya let your medication take control.

All these are based on my experience.

    Naa koy interesting nga experience.

After resigning from my stressful work in Manila. I was out or job for at least 6months. kaon tulog lang ko, suroy panalagsa, pero clean living na kay dili na ka-afford hehehe. Then I went to Siquijor to see a quack doctor. She examined my skin and said something about "not like ours lagi" daw... she went on with her ritual, got some leaves at her backyard, brushed them on my skin, add some saliva, add magic words, then told me to burn/cook(no water) the leaves till they become ashes. Then using the juice/sap of a plant that can be seen clearly only on early mornings(mamulak man gud ug violet nga gagmay kaayo, inig late morning na dili na distinguishable ang plant matabunan sa uban tanom), ipahid ang duga sa tanom unya i apply ang ashes sa lessions.

For almost a month I did the routine of "ipahid ang duga and apply the ashes". Hangtud nahurot ang ashes.
Mind you, the lessions went away! You cannot see any traces of the lessions. Bisan ug brown patches wala gyud.

Then sa dihang naka trabaho na ko, naa man shifting ako nasudlan nga trabaho...tsk tsk tsk, naghinay hinay na pud ug patim-aw ang mga lessions. After a year nga murag nagkadaghan na pud, nibalik ko niya. Pero wala na man ni epek iya mga duga and ashes.

Karon I "sometimes" religiously apply Daivonex on my active lessions. "Sometimes" kay usahay kanang ma-late na ta or tapulan lang gyud, dili man ko mangapply. Pero I could claim nga nikalma ang lessions. Kung naa ko ma notice nga small dot nga murag lession, tirahan dayon nako ug Daivonex. Mo sugod siya ug "expand" pero eventually mawala ra basta sigehan ug butang gyud ug Daivonex. Dili gani maka bilin ug brown patch sa skin.

Reading literatures on Psoriasis help me alot on understanding my condition and I believe it also help on relieving the stress that I should have experience. Salamat sa internet.

It is a genetic disorder mao tingali ang mga tambal available can only control it.

My guy cousins do have Psoriasis of varying degree. Most of them don't seem to be bothered by it. Mao tingali nga wala kaayo mo spread sa ila lawas. And most of them are not living in the city so mao pud tingali nga dili kaayo sila stressed. hehehe

Hmmm, only guy cousins on my mother side. So me thinks, my girl cousins are carriers of this genetic disorder. Somewhere down their line Psoriasis will appear.

it skips a generation man. When we looked at out family tree my lola's sister has it but wala akong mga 1st and 2nd degree cousins... its definately a lifelong illness nya i recently read na Psoriasis sufferers have a 20% risk of developing heart problems due to inflammation... [br]Posted on: July 03, 2007, 01:43:55 PM_________________________________________________I ts been hard coping with this disease since it does more damage than just superficial. It was tough growing up and dealing with it alone. It affects a person's self-esteem and most psoriasis sufferers suffer from depression. I do. I'd like to get in touch with those who have it and hopefully build an online community specifically here in cebu to discuss on new therapies, share stories and just basically offer a helping hand to fellow sufferers like me. Just PM me if you want to share your story
