"If you want a server dual-core with multiprocessing support, the 5160 is the fastest of them all. Packing an impressive 4MBs of cache (level 2), this CPU uses a variation of the original Conroe desktop core. However, the FSB speed has been increased from 1066MHz to 1333MHz and that is a plus, especially if you use bandwidth-needy software.
Using 128-bit FPUs (all C2D CPUs use this type of FPU), the new 51xx chips deliver some impressive numbers when involved in 3D rendering or other floating point calculus. These Xeons use FB-DIMMs as primary RAM and that can up the price of a server by a large margin. However, it also enables high capacity RAM arrays to be used (8GB-128GB depending on the motherboard).
The Xeon 5160 is indeed a high performer in the dual-core arena, but that has almost nothing to do with the speed. Actually, it's the FSB (1333MHz) that does the trick. And if you also add up the 4MBs of unified cache, the situation gets even better. However, don't expect it to be cheap, since top of the line Woodcrest CPUs can be pretty expensive. Currently, you can buy the 5160 in its boxed form for about $860, but that's only for the LGA 771 CPU. Add up a good server grade motherboard and a pair of DDR2 FB-DIMMs and you're looking at an $2000 price tag just for the basic parts." -

ASRock ConRoe1333-D667 is a slimed down version of the ConRoe1333-DVI/H we reviewed earlier. With a newer stepping of the 945GC chipset, it is able to scale up its performance with unofficial support of the 1333FSB CPUs (to be released).
Although 945GC A2 is a newer stepping of the 945G, it shares similar functionalities with the 945G. The ConRoe1333-D667 is somewhat scaled back as Rev 1 has Fast Ethernet while Rev 2.0 comes with GbE. It only has 2 DDRII dimm slots to support up to a max. of 4GB of RAM. Basic o/c features are also in with Boot failure guard and ASRock U-COP. The integrated graphics just like the 945G boards can have a max shared memory of 224M.
