Default closing bank accounts.. do you need to pay charges?

i had an argument with a bank. im not going to give the name here. i have 2 accounts with them. since last month, ive slowly transferred all my money to a different bank.

when i checked the accounts thru online access, i saw there negative on both accounts, for falling below balance. will i be paying those negative charges before they close the account?

or can i just leave that as is and not bother with it anymore?

I'm with Unionbank for many many years and can't remember nag negative akong balance for falling below ADB. Naay tuy one time, nabinlan og 400, pag end of month, geh kaon. Right then and there, kung mag end of month na hapit, ako kuhaon tanan.

No need. Just leave it be and let the account be closed due to dormancy or penalty for going below the MADB. If it goes negative then it is their fault for not closing it when there was no longer any amount left for the penalty. You can even open another account in the same bank and they won't look at your previous history.

A debit account with a bank is different compared to a credit account.

Probably, that negative there is intended for them to debit on your account if you deposit again. The charge is approx. 300-500 per month for falling below the MADB.

If you won't use it anymore, then it's good as closed when it's already dormant. The account will be deemed dormant after 2 years (may not apply to all banks). You may or may not inform them formally.

hurot na lage to withdraw, mao gani na-negative na cya. wala man sila nakuha nako kay since last month pa, the last withdrawal, murag P20 na lang tong nabilin sa usa ka account, then P47 sa isa pa.

For courtesy lang bro, email them nalang. Although we have different reasons for closing, they advised me through email to inform them(through email pud) if I have done with the closing my account process. Although hitech and computerized nata karon, it doesn't hurt to inform them bisan through email lang.
