Hi,

I wanna start a thread generally about local beer and eventually gather some ideas about forming a local beer brewing group.

I started brewing my own beer this year and I still have some of it at home, but I've started getting the feel of it by brewing some batches of honey wine (mead) last year. Some of my friends in the U.S. and a cousin of mine have influenced my interest in beer to take it to the next step - make my own.

Now, I'm interested in knowing what most of us here wanted/needed in a beer and who are interested in brewing their own. A craft beer brewing group will be very helpful to overcome local constraints when brewing in the Philippines and perhaps meet and greet good "beer people". In case you do not know, the usual ingredients aren't easily available locally but some local brewers I've known have their own way of workarounds that even made their beer more unique and special.

Please post your inputs! I'd be glad to talk about this. The reason also that I need to brew my own beer is that I want to enjoy good and various beer styles/ here in Cebu without buying imported ones. You know SMB and BNB are good beers but they don't have much styles to appreciate in one's "beer life"

Yes and No. Yes because there are beer groups around the world that are willing to educate people (craft beer revolution as they said it). Aside from that, there is this so-called extract brewing that one can follow if one is not up to challenge and fine modifications of the beer. On the other hand, no kun ganahan jd ka mag permi ug improve ug expand sa skills, another thing is that sa pinsa medyo naa gyud challenge ang pag acquire sa uban ingredients.

Though i'm not really an expert about this, I would say either way is fun!!!

Sure ka wala paka ka sulay? Your nick sounds like an experienced brewer . Wala koy beer kit because so far akong na sulayan kay all-grain brewing. Katong sa una nag think kog mag gamit ug beer kit but ganahn man ko mo explore more on how beer is really made from scratch (of course without malting). I tried malting sad but it failed hehe, kay wa man koy time ato mu bantay gud.

Kung interested ka pde ta mag meeting ani kung daghan2 ta. Anyways, nindot jd sya, akong matabang kay mu kickstart ra sa inyong hidden brewmeister skills hehe

Actually, like any other recipe, naa gyud fundmental ingredients such as malted grains (barley, wheat), water, yeast, and hops. But my opinion is that the ingredients are countless and may differ sa lugar, unless kung purist ka. But ako open ko ug experiments. Actually if u need instant beer education (non interactive) u may look i up at youtube.

Mlingaw gyud ka esp. Kung mahilig kag beer ug mag experiment and leaen new things. Kay dili ramn pd brewing matun-an, aside from beer culture educ., mka learn pd kag create ug imohang customized "beer gadgets"
