Default Talisay to ban tricycles, carts from CSCR

TRICYCLES, bicycles and animal-drawn carts are banned from the Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR) in Talisay City starting this week.

Talisay City Mayor Johnny de los Reyes ordered acting city police chief Resty Santos to stop light vehicles such as tricycles, trisikads and even bicycles from travelling the CSCR.

The order also applies to slow-moving contraptions such animal-drawn vehicles.

De los Reyes based his order on City Ordinance 2004-04.

The mayor also directed the barangay captains of Cansojong and San Roque to enforce the ordinance.

He added that the volume of vehicular traffic at the CSCR increased in recent years due to the presence of prohibited vehicles, particularly trisikads (bicycles with side cars).

De los Reyes said tricycles and trisikads disrupt the steady flow of the CSCR by using the wrong lanes while travelling.

"The vehicles are courting disasters not only to its drivers and passengers but also to legitimate vehicles and its passengers using the CSCR", De los Reyes added.

I think the new elected mayor made a sound decision to keep light vehicles away from CSCR. He is showing care for the people. I probably make the same decision.

If I'm not mistaken, speed limit in CSCR is at 60 kph. If you hit someone or something at that speed, it's either you'll be a wreck and live or wreck and dead.
