It can be before and after coz it will just help ease the muscles. Mas maayo siguro before para mahumok ang muscles. Also, you have to psychologically trick your puppy kung naanad sya nga dili mu piko - just like people. You have to come up with a bit of an exercise forcing your puppy to use his other leg.

I have a similar experience. Two of my poodles couldn't move one of their legs after getting vaccinated. I called my vet in a panic why they are limping. My vet told me to massage their legs and eventually they can move. So I did just that. The day after, they were still limping. I called my vet again and he told me to relax, they will get better. Then something came into my mind- suspicion lang- what if my poodles are just acting up? So I decided to try something. When I went to check on them and tried to move them, they cried. So what I did, I placed a treat in the corner of the room that requires them to walk to get it. I pretended to go back to my room and sneaked up on them. I saw BOTH my poodles, walking on both their feet. When they saw me, they pretended to limp.

So, try moving your dog around through play. After the massage, give him some exercise that will make him want to use his other leg. After all, the vet said it just needed a massage right? The vet would know if its fractured or anything right? if your vet said your pup is ok, then what's probably stopping your pup from moving his leg is psychological lang.
