What is this photowalk about?
This photowalk, organized by Cebu Shooters Guild and LA Photography, promotes the use of wide angle lenses in street photography. Wide angle is often misunderstood and misused, so with the theme
Near and Far: Exaggerating Perspectives, the walk aims to address those issues.
Who can join this photowalk?
Anyone can join regardless of age, gender, camera system, or type of shooter. However, we would like to remind those with health considerations that this event would require walking in crowded places and exposed to the elements (rain or sun). The organizers will not be held liable for any incident that may occur due to a participant’s negligence of their own situation.
What about the photo contest?
The contest is open to all participants but only entries taken at wide focal lengths will be accepted. Please check the mechanics below for more details.
Is there a registration fee?
There is NO registration fee. All we need is your passion and enthusiasm as we capture daily life in the streets of Cebu.

What is the meeting time and place?
Meeting time is at 2PM, walk starts at exactly 3PM. Staging area will be at the Parian Monument (check map for location).
For us new to street photography, what general advice can you give us?
Most important of all is your SAFETY. Here are some important things to remember:
- Wear clothing that would not attract unwanted attention. Avoid flashy clothes and accessories such as jewelry that may tempt thieves.
- Stick with the group. There will be an orientation just before the walk starts and you will be assigned a partner. Your cooperation is a MUST for your own safety.
- Always be mindful of traffic. Do not endanger your life just for the sake of getting that perfect angle or shot.
- Although taking pictures of people in public is legal, some may not be agreeable to having their photo taken. Always approach your subjects with a smile and try asking for their permission. Do not forget to thank them afterwards or show them the photo you took so that they would not feel that it was a hit-and-run shot.
- Bring appropriate weather gear. Sunscreen if the day is sunny, poncho or raincoat if it rains. Bring also additional shirts, bottled water, and any medication that you may be taking.
- Wear comfortable shoes. We will be walking for hours and nothing ruins the fun more than sore feet.

Near and Far: Exaggerating Perspectives
Mechanics
- The contest is open to both amateur and professional photographers.
- Photos must have been taken during the duration of the Going Wide Photowalk.
- Contest is open to analog and DSLR users.
- Only photos taken between the focal lengths of 10mm to 35mm regardless of lens will be accepted. Analog users will need t register their cameras before the start of the walk.
- Post processing, borders, and watermarks are NOT ALLOWED except for black and white digital conversion.
- Submitted photos must have been taken solely by the entrant.
- The photograph must not contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.
- For analog submissions, submit one digital (jpeg) copy as well as the film of the photograph. For digital copies, submit one digital (jpeg) copy as well as the RAW copy. Jpeg copies must be exactly 1000px at its longest side and not more than 6MB. Each participant is entitled to one (1) submission.
- All entries must be submitted on or before Friday, JULY 26 2013. Submit entries via email at gw_entry@cebushootersguild.org. Use “Photo Entry” as the subject.
- For film submissions, you may contact the organizers to arrange for a meetup.
- Announcement of winners will be on Monday JULY 29 2013. Awarding of prizes will be on Saturday AUGUST 2 2013.
