    Lightbulb MSI HD 7870 Hawk Inquiry (Performance & Price)

    Peeps,

    ask napud ko ninyo...

    kinsa nag gamit ninyo ani? pwede mo maka share sa "Pros & Cons"...

    na inclined man ko to buy a pair ani nya instead sa GTX 770. performance wise, setting up a pair of these babies in crossfire would be faster compared to a single GTX 770 on the games that I play (BF3, Crysis 3 & Far Cry 3)... nag research ko's net, kumbati man ni na variant sa HD7870 ang Hawk... imbis mag upgrade ko... mahimo man hinoon ni'g sidegrade ang labas ani if mo dayon ko'g palit... tsk tsk tsk... dili pa ni final hinoon... or, i may opt to order one GPU tonight para suwayan ug gamit... if maka uyon, aw, pun-an ug isa para Xfirex... if dili ganahan sa performance, aw, atoang i "palo" diri's istorya... hehehe...

    by the way, pila pud kaha ni sya dha... nag tan-aw ko's TPC pero, ang TwinFrozr III variant ra man na HD7870 ang available for 15.9K php... sa duha ka HD 7870 offerings from MSI, mas better ning Hawk variant nila...

    salamat...

    Idola gyud nako nimo boss oi. Mag sige lang jud kag upgrade hahaha

    Anyways, if performance wise kay mas kusog jud sguro ang 7870 pero ang downside kay one year old technology na siya. Considering, if and only if, by any chance imo nang madala diri balik sa Pinas, mas malipay sguro ang VECO ana compared sa GTX 770. On the other hand is ang airflow pod sa imong PC. I could be wrong though.

    I'm not saying get the GTX 770, but there are things to consider lang jud before the purchase.

    Good luck ani bai, share pod benchmark and the likes kung unsa man imong napilian.

    update...

    aborted the plan to buy 1 MSI HD7870 Hawk this evening in favor of 1 Yeston GTX 670... the unit will arrive tomorrow morning...

    Nindot scaling sa AMD cards, the HD7870s should be between 770 and 780 in terms of performance. Nindot ila value for the money but if it's for 15k I don't think it's worth it assuming the Hawk would be more expensive sa Twin Frozer. Better off with sapphire HD7950 IMO, even better scaling, can go head-head vs the Titan. Also I'm sure you're aware of the problems that could arise on dual gpu configs? Also of the GSOD ( grey screen of death ) issues sa HD78xx series of cards? Though GSOD nanggawas sa first batches dunno if nag exist pa na karon.

    ako pa nimo boss pag mantinil lang sah sa imong 650ti kay we are arlready in the middle of the year, so six months to go for the new generation of gpus for Nvidia dunno about AMD since they state nga di sila mag release ug GPU for 2013. Kung nangatol jud ka, I never recommend buying MSI GPU reason they are too damn expensive. I could already buy a sapphire HD7950 which has better performance. and also I have never been a fan of dual GPU because they don't always mean less is more. AMD or Nvidia I don't always recommend MSI because if weighed for price-to-performance not worth it. Go for HD7950,7970 or GTX 680 for upgrade. Kita man sad ko sa set up nimo in pics pwede ka mag powercolor 7950 for red theme which is 10k or less from our fellow istoryans here stated

    @lloyd

    GTX 760 is bound next thursday performance on par sa 670 at probably a much lower power consumption and most likely cheaper, sayang hehe

    @senpai

    latest product portfolio sa AMD indicates new cards will come out this September but most likely tweaked version ra sa HD7xxx sama sa GTX 7xx series sa nvidia. Volcanic Islands ( HD9xxx ) is rumored last quarter this year or 1st quarter next year.

    karon na day, halos na hurot akoang time ug basa2x sa net... base sa mga reviews, mao ni akoang na kuha for today on the multi-GPU performance

    > Nvidia's SLI technology wins on the smoothness of the game play... this is the most important aspect, the smoothness of the frame rate during game play...
    > AMD's offering wins in terms of brute speed on the frames per second... min, max & average FPS reading are bigger compared to its competition from Nvidia...
    > AMD's offering wins in terms of performance scaling but is prone to "micro-stutter"...

    let me share this link... for reference...

    Frame Rating: GTX 660 vs HD 7870, plus HD 7790, HD 7850, GTX 650 Ti BOOST | PC Perspective

    personally, based on this learning, I would be better-off in choosing the "Green" for the multi-GPU set-up due to the smoothness of the game play in SLI... this is just me though... i'm an avid fan of a multi-GPU set-up... had owned these multi-GPUs configuration before... 2-way SLI (GTX 660 Ti) and Quad-firex (dual HD4870 X2)...

    Yep, AMD crossfire is currently plagued by it. But driver that should supposedly decrease the micro stutter issue is on the works. If you'll look at PCPER's review of the said driver which were sampled on selected review sites including theirs it shows a significant improvement.

    Crysis 3 is one of the comparisons they've made, look at it in full hd para makita nimo ang difference

    Oh...so i will be skipping the next generation as well, skipped this generation might as well the next one. both Green and Red camp still uses the same architecture from the previous for the next generation of GPU. I will stick to my HD6990 for awhile this card still packs a punch until the HD9xxx codename Volcanic Islands or its Green counterpart will release chips with substantial improvement.
