    Default No Audio Device Installed

I have a Intel DQ35MP desktop board with a Core2Quad CPU and Windows XP OS (up to SP3) but when installed with the Realtek latest audio drivers downloaded from the Intel website there is no audio device installed when checking in the Device Manager --> Sounds properties.

In the Device Manager however, there are no Realtek audio codes and stuff installed.

    What could be the problem?

Please note that way back when I assembled this system in 2007 all are perfectly working until now that I decided to re-format the PC.

    Tried the following:
    1. disabled audio in BIOS and installed WinXP and then re-enabled audio in BIOS (as suggested in the Intel support)
    2. installed Win7, to my surprise there is no Sounds device in the Device Manager
    3. un-installed and re-installed the Realtek audio driver a couple of times already

Thanks in advance for any comments that might help solve the problem.

    Cheers,
    Reymund

    Bro,
I think this has something to do with the order by which you installed the drivers. If mauwahi nag install ang audio on most older platforms, it occassionally messes it up.

That is correct bro. Recommended sequence is chipset>audio>video>lan

Dell slightly revises the sequence with a few entries after chipset,
